GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Opens In Japan; Poster And Creepy Rocket Animatronic Revealed
Guardians of the Galaxy has now opened in Japan, and as well as a box office update (hint: $600 million won't be the last benchmark it hits), we also have a Japanese poster and a creepy video of an animatronic Japanese Rocket Raccoon answering reporter's questions. Check it out!
This weekend, Guardians of the Galaxy opened in Japan with $2.1 million. That may not sound like a lot, but that number means that it had a higher opening than both Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Thor: The Dark World! After finishing in third place this weekend with $8 million in North America, the Marvel Studios movie now has a worldwide total of $612 million. Analysts believe that it will have no problem passing the $700 million mark following its opening in China next month, though whether it will beat The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ($708 million) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($714 million) remains to be seen. It's definitely possible!
Talking of Japan, a new poster - which reuses some familiar images - has been released along with a video of a bizarre animatronic Rocket answering questions. It's a creation which even director James Gunn admits "freaks me out". How much do you think the movie will earn in total?
