In a recent interview with Screenrant, James Gunn discussed the possiblity of him directing a Thunderbolts film for Marvel. "Thunderbolts?" Gunn said. "I will tell you, one time I was saying to Kevin [Feige], we were sitting on set together on one of the days he visited and I said, ‘You know, I really want to make Thunderbolts,' and he said, 'James, if Guardians does well you'll be able to do whatever you want.' So we'll see what happens." Wow, didn't that response from Feige sound so nonchalant? The interview then went on to discuss if we will be seeing 'Bug' anytime soon. Surprisingly Marvel does not not own the rights to that character!
Gunn had this to say, "We don't own Bug. So Bug is not in the sequel he would be one of my primarily contenders for a sequel but to be completely honest, I'm in love with the Guardians and I would love to stay in the Marvel Cosmic arena for the time being. It's true." Regarding other characters, specifically more Guardians of the Galaxy characters for the sequel, Gunn said that he loves "a lot of the other Guardians so I think about it quite a bit. I love… I love a lot of them and if I say one then all those fans of that one character are going to come out and then I might decide that character doesn’t work as well so we’ll see. We may have some Guardians we've already met."
