Jim Carrey & Adam Sandler Among Actors On Marvel's Radar For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Apparently beating trade reporters to the punch, the folks at Latino Review have learned of the latest names on Marvel's radar for their forthcoming space epic, Guardians of the Galaxy. Indicating that director James Gunn has yet to find an actor for the movie's lead role, Peter Quill/Star-Lord, the report reveals that Wes Bentley, 34, Chris Lowell, 28, and Cam Gigandet, 30, are testing for the part. More interestingly, according to sources of Latino Review, who has many Marvel credentials, Marvel is looking to nab well-known comedic actors seemingly for other members of the interstellar team. Jim Carrey, 51, and Adam Sandler, 46, have both been inquired about their availability for unspecified roles. Speculation already suggests that, perhaps, it's the voice of the two comedians that Marvel is courting; likely for Groot and/or the gun-toting Rocket Raccoon. What do you think?

Wes Bentley, Jim Carrey, Chris Lowell, Adam Sandler, Cam Gigandet

Marvel Studios presents “Guardians of the Galaxy”—the big cinematic event exploring an interstellar super hero team-up, featuring Marvel characters Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Groot and Rocket Raccoon. While story details are under wraps, the film is rumored to lead with a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants. Directed by James Gunn from a screenplay by James Gunn, “Guardians of the Galaxy” is based on the Marvel comic book series “Guardians of the Galaxy,” first published in 1969 and revived in 2008. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will distribute “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014. In addition to “Guardians of the Galaxy”, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on other iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel (title TBA) on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

Hopefully its some other character that isnt part of the main team. And if they are, I highly doubt it would be for Starlord, possibly Rocket Racoon?

On a sidenote, My pick for StarLord is Jensen Ackles.

Famous faces ruin characters for me, with a few exceptions. I didn't see Hal Jordan, I saw Ryan Reynolds. But RDJ? Tony Stark.

I could see Carrey easily. Adam Sandler doesn't remember how to act anymore. He really doesn't. He just says something really vulgar and ludicrous and does that annoying laugh. The last movie he really "acted" in was The Longest Yard.

But Carrey? Get 'em! I'd love to see him play Raccoon!

Out of the 3 listed, I'd want Wes Bentley. But overall, I hope to God John Krasinski gets Star-Lord. It would be his defining moment as an actor.

GOTG, BABY!

Sandler..watching this movie in a theatre like the rest of us! Seriously, keep him away

Sure to Jim Carrey maybe hell yes, depends on the role. But Adam Sandler?

I could not imagine what kind of role Adam Sandler could play in a marvel movie or space adventure movie. I don't believe he has that kind of acting range not to menton his last slough of movies sucked and were not even funny.

Jim Carrey on the other hand actually is a skilled actor and has quite bit of range outside of comedy.

Krasinski is up? Wow.., I'd actually kinda' feel that! His purdy other half soared in Looper.., so yeah I welcome this. He was good opposite Damon in Gus Van Sant's return to what he thought was a statement.

@monkeyballs3:

You did read the comic, right? I mean, in Annihilation: Conquest, the deaths that happen (Which I won't mention for Spoiler reasons) and the way Groot and Rocket become accommodates; Their conversations, it is hilarious. This movie NEEDS to be funny and beautiful. That's why Gunn was hired. A buddy comedy is GOTG. It's if the Expendables were in space, dude.

@TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM

I agree 100% bsides that mess you posted in the first picture.

The last time I saw Sandle attempt at acting was The Longest Yard.

Even Tyler Perry would be better Adam Sandler at this point.

To give what you need; no one really did care. Ahhh, what else do you need? When Paramount/Disney announced they were doing this sad grab at Serenity leftovers..., it struck me because I did not know what they were going for. It seemed ambitious.., now it's all falling into place. Don't court real estate, for the only way it works.., works against the root(fanbase schematic). If I have politics it only means things will get better for you! There's no way I could do that so we get Fiege. Trust him today.., who is he tomorrow. Goggles off, it's the truth, despite his profession of solid taste and execution. Avengers was on the same level of the Transformers(got a great story on that premiere).
Logan5
Logan5 - 1/22/2013, 11:14 PM
Krasinski would be great as Star-Lord. I routed for him to 'roid up and make Cap an inspired choice.., but who saw them going to FF to get Chris? I thought he was so perfect in Sunshine.., when I heard him cast, I literally squawked? 3/4 of the film will be a digital double or stand-in. Cast Krasinski! His schedule should be open for the next week or two as well. Put down Stan's hairpiece and make some decisions.., now! :-P

Whatever inane, dunce, dumbass referred to Ant-Man as pertaining to a bad move by Marvel, God you are so outlandish.

Seriously?! Have you ever seen an Edgar Wright movie? Get your head out of your ass and switch your shitty wanna be Spider-Man avatar for the legit thing...

And just to let you know... Sure I was a little bit skeptical about the Russo Bros., but Fiege trusts them and and they know their comics. They are HUGE Cap fans, and it shows. Just by the little bit of Casting news we received, they know the characters, extremely well. They understand.

Sure they don't have much work outside of Community and You, Me and Dupree, but let's not forget the same was said about Favreau and Johnston and even Whedon. TWS may very well be the best solo film of Phase 2.
