Fans have been waiting patiently for James Gunn to top off his Marvel Cinematic Universe run with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Slated to hit theaters on May 5, people have been wondering when tickets would end up going on sale, and it seems we've got an answer.

Gunn took to Twitter on Saturday to announce that tickets for the film will go on sale on April 3. The declaration was also coupled with a short video. Marvel also shared this video, so it seems pretty set in stone that fans can nab a ticket for the film in only a matter of days.

This will be the sendoff of Gunn as he will later share the spotlight as a co-chair and co-CEO with fellow seasoned DC producer Peter Safran.

As soon as word got out that he was stepping into leadership at DC, it's no shock that he isn't going to be a big player in the MCU, though, he did make it clear that there isn't some big rivalry going on behind the scenes. That is to say, he isn't looking to bomb Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on purpose. His big goal ahead of leaving Marvel entirely is ensuring his sendoff projects are enormous successes.

Actually would’ve liked to see Gunn be put in charge of the cosmic stuff tbh but oh well hope G3 is good send off for him and the cast, one of the best MCU trilogies (hopefully)

@ShimmyShimmyYA - I think that was the plan until he got originally fired. Now he’s the latest patsy trying to fix DC’s mess.

@ShimmyShimmyYA - think Gunn doing an Annihilation cross-over event would've been really cool. Hopefully still get that though, albeit without Gunn

Phase 4-on has been garbage, but I hope they give everyone a decent sendoff with this one.

Off topic: Shazam 2 has been out for 2 weeks and made $109 million...Worldwide.

This feels like nobody wanted to make this movie but had to because it was in their contract.

@SirDuckAlot - pretty sure Gunn wanted to. Otherwise he would've just declined coming back to Marvel

Marvel isn't getting a dime from me until they fire Majors.

Guardians 2 was whack anyways.

It’s hilariously funny how this franchise went from “Marvel’s first flop” to “Marvel’s last profitable”.
