Marvel is scheduled to see its biggest presence yet at the D23 Expo, tomorrow, with showcasing the upcoming Thor and Captain America sequels and making some big announcements. And perhaps, Kevin Feige and the gang will finally reveal who'll voice the gun-toting Rocket Raccoon and "houseplant/muscle" Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, as some footage from the James Gunn-directed film was glimpsed during a sizzle reel at the Disney event today. Meanwhile, production on Guardians of the Galaxy is in full swing overseas in the United Kingdom as director James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista took to Twitter to share a minor principal photography update.
"Aftr 2 wks straight shootin I enter the weekend w a bang-love my cast," Gunn tweeted. "As of today we are 45.7% done with #GOTG," Pratt posted, implying that 45 days of filming remain. Bautista informed Gunn, "Way to fire up a cast after a brutally tough week! You’re the man JG!" In related news, the Better Bankside reported back in July that Guardians of the Galaxy will shoot "crowd scenes" at the Millennium Bridge this weekend on August 11. The pedestrian Bridge will be closed and scenes will be "enhanced, using computer - generated imagery" in post-production.
Anyhow, below, you'll find some overlooked, high quality photos of Marvel's Comic-Con display for Guardians of the Galaxy at the San Diego event last month. There's also a none-revealing photo of Dave Bautista's trailer when the production was shooting out in the open earlier this month. And lastly, actress Karen Gillan took a break from filming last weekend and attended the Audi Polo Challenge in Ascot, where she showed off her shaved head for her Nebula role. What do you think?
“Guardians of the Galaxy,” the next epic adventure from Marvel Studios, is directed by James Gunn from his screenplay, with a story by Nicole Perlman and Gunn, and the film will introduce audiences to a whole new side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The all-star cast includes Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Academy Award® winner Benicio del Toro as The Collector, Academy Award nominee John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, and six-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close as Nova Prime. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is slated for August 1, 2014!
