NOVA Will Reportedly Be A Marvel Studios Special Presentation Akin To WEREWOLF BY NIGHT

We recently heard that Marvel Studios is looking to make fewer TV shows and more Special Presentations, and a new report claims Nova will be among the standalone stories coming to Disney+. Check it out!

Back in March, the trades reported that Marvel Studios is officially moving forward with a Nova project. It wasn't revealed at the time whether it would be a movie or Disney+ TV series, though we do know that Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel writer Sabir Pirzada has been tapped to pen the character's MCU debut.

The belief is that the focus will be put on Richard Rider and Sam Alexander, though how this adaptation will deal with Thanos' attack on Xandar and the Nova Corps remains to be seen.

Now, The Cosmic Circus is reporting that the plan is for Nova to be a Marvel Studios Special Presentation in the same vein as Werewolf by Night. This means the character's introduction won't be stretched out over the course of a six-episode TV series or the focal point of a feature film.

It was recently reported that Marvel Studios is looking to make more Special Presentations, with the previously announced Shang-Chi and Black Panther spinoffs also believed to be taking that form now. That makes more sense than giving a TV show to pretty much everyone, particularly when it's become apparent that Kevin Feige is being stretched thin.

Presenting this story in the space of 50 minutes will also make life easier for crews, VFX artists, and Marvel Studios as a whole. The recent Phase 5 delays in what's proving to be a jam-packed Multiverse Saga are proof they need to slow down a little.

Nova is a character comic book fans have been waiting to see on screen for years now, and we're sure this Special Presentation will lay the groundwork for Richard, Sam, or both to be a big part of the MCU. The character is an absolute powerhouse, so could be key in the battle against Kang the Conqueror.

Stay tuned for updates on Nova

After WBN, I'm completely down for this idea.

@Toecutter -
They managed to make him lovable, which I would not have thought possible. They are basically making comics on TV. Not all the shows needed that much room but yea, more of these Special Presentations please. They tell a much more concise story.

More Special Presentations, less "shows" that were movie scripts repurposed into TV. And more Man-Thing!

@bobevanz - Nah, 50 minutes is too short. Giant sized Man-Thing or GTFO!

@MyBeard - I can see them doing a Man-Thing special with Jack making an appearance and maybe a few other obscure characters sprinkled in. WWBN was such a knock out of the park. I've watched it three times already.

Soooooooo MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS: ???

I've only been saying this for about a decade. I think it'd be great.

@VictorAlonzo - Yeah they almost had the right idea with the shorts and I guess they have weighed the scales on how the Disney+ shows are faring. This feels like a great middle ground to be able to present new characters without having to lock down so much money for episodes.

Nice, hope we see the aftermath of Thanos invasion of Xandar, which was only mentioned in IW.

@Fogs - I'm curious to see how they incorporate his power set. I would imagine it would be directly related to what Thanos did unless they go another route.

@Fogs - It would be great to see but wouldn't have Nova came after Thanos for what he did? We should have seen him in Endgame at least taking revenge.

I guess you could show him taking on Thanos and losing.

@marvel72 - that would depend on how long his origin story will take.

Made for TV, hour and a half movies or one off specials such as WBN, that's the way forward for Disney+.

TV shows can still work but they need to realize what is the best format for each property. Nova for example requires some heavy CGI to work properly, so a special is probably the best way to go.
