UPDATE: New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Tidbits; Glenn Close, Nebula And Post-Production

As Karen Gillan characterizes Nebula and Glenn Close talks vaguely about filming, director James Gunn implies he's using celluloid film, while also boasting performances by his actors. Check it out!

Since wrapping up filming for Guardians of the Galaxy last week, Karen Gillan has been out and about promoting her new film Not Another Happy Ending. And speaking with Red Carpet News TV yesterday, the Scottish actress described her space pirate Nebula as "a bald sadist with bionic limbs and an American accent." The shaved head gave it way, but Nebula having bionic arm(s) and an artificial left eye (as seen in the leaked trailer) further indicate that her depiction in the film emulates the character after she was injured by Thanos' brother, Starfox, and then converted into a cyborg by Doctor Mandibus in the comics. Her injuries might be explained differently in the movie.

Glenn Close stated during an August interview, prior to filming scenes for Guardians of the Galaxy, that she signed on for the Nova Prime role because it would afford her to go do the independent films that she loves. But since then, the six-time Academy Award-nominated actress has filmed her scenes and seemingly had a good time: "I've always wanted to be in one of those movies," Close told a crowd last weekend at the College of William & Mary College, via The Virginian-Pilot. "That's what I'm looking for. I want every role to be something entirely different," she added.

UPDATE: Guard the Galaxy, a 'fan blog' devoted to Marvel Studios' upcoming adaptation, has discovered two minor but intriguing additions to the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy. According to American Actors UK, English actress Laura Haddock will apparently play Meredith Quill, mother of Chris Pratt's Peter Quill. And a Janis Ahern will play Meredith's mother in the movie. This casting likely proves that we'll see Star-Lord's origins in Guardians of the Galaxy, to a certain extent, which isn't too surprising. In the comics, when Peter was eleven, aliens came to Earth and killed Meredith.

As for filming, Guardians of the Galaxy helmer James Gunn has hinted that he's shooting the space epic adaptation on film, as opposed to being shot digitally. "Holy shit. We shot 63,000 feet of film Saturday. 11 1/2 hours of film. One scene. We're in for some long dailies tonight!" the director tweeted last week. Could this mean Guardians will be Marvel Studios' first movie to abandon the digital format? Possibly. Concerning filming's current status, Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt posted hours ago on Twitter that "Today we are about 92% complete with principal photography on [Guardians of the Galaxy]," hinting that seven days of filming remain for the Marvel production.

With Guardians nearing its post-production, James Gunn further noted that the remainder of the film's editing, of which Django Unchained and Marvel One-Shot: Item 47 editors Fred Raskin and Hughes Winborne are in charge, will soon move from the U.K. to the .U.S. "We shoot for a couple weeks in England. Then I take a very short break. And then I come back to L.A.," the director posted Sunday on his Spring.me. With Guardians of the Galaxy soon vacating England's Shepperton Studios, set prep for The Avengers: Age of Ultron should be getting underway very soon if it hasn't already. Anyhow, for more Guardians of the Galaxy tidbits, take a scroll below! What do you think?

“Guardians of the Galaxy,” the next epic adventure from Marvel Studios, is directed by James Gunn from his screenplay, with a story by Nicole Perlman and Gunn, and the film will introduce audiences to a whole new side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The all-star cast includes Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Academy Award® winner Benicio del Toro as The Collector, Academy Award nominee John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, and six-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close as Nova Prime. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is slated for August 1, 2014!

But in relation to John Gunn's role, I speculate either High Evolutionary, Ship, Zak-Del (Later Wraith), Vance Astro and most recently, the Kree Supreme Intelligence. Either as a voice or the actual head.

i know, since the whole too much humor controversy that this site has had since iron man 3,i thought guardians would be hated upon because it looks to be the most comedic out of the marvel studios films.

Was it just me or does Harley, the kid from Iron Man 3, seem to have some sort of connection with Guardians of the Galaxy. The phrase "My dad went into town for some scratchers, but he must of won because he's been gone for 6 years". I think that is supposed to reference someone
