UPDATE: Did Bradley Cooper Just Reveal The Villain Of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: VOL 2?
Marvel Studios may not be pleased with Bradley Cooper after seeing this video interview in which the Rocket Raccoon voice actor potentially reveals which character will be not only the main villain of the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, but also the father of Chris Pratt's Star-lord.
The identity of Peter Quill's father may not be a huge revelation in Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2, according to writer/director James Gunn, but the mystery surrounding who that character will actually be may no longer be a mystery, thanks to Bradley Cooper. The Rocket Raccoon voice actor was promoting his new film Burnt when MTV International asked if he knows who the main villain will be in the 2017 Marvel sequel. His response may be a big spoiler, so scroll below with caution.
In the above video interview, Bradley Cooper initially suggests that Thanos (Josh Brolin) will be the main villain in Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2. And he later implies that the mad titan is the father of "what's his name... the main guy... the Dark-lord." We'd assume he's referring to Star-Lord there, but Cooper's recount of Thanos' big scene in Guardians of the Galaxy indicates that he's actually referring to Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) being the son of Thanos. Obviously, Cooper doesn't remember much from the first movie. And given he later insinuates not knowing anything about Volume 2, Quill's dad is still a mystery. However, Thanos could be the villain. What do you think?
UPDATE: As many expected, James Gunn has taken to Twitter to respond to Cooper's interview:
Starring Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Vin Diesel (Groot), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Karen Gillan (Nebula), with Bradley Cooper (Rocket), and Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5, 2017.
