UPDATE: Did Bradley Cooper Just Reveal The Villain Of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: VOL 2?

Marvel Studios may not be pleased with Bradley Cooper after seeing this video interview in which the Rocket Raccoon voice actor potentially reveals which character will be not only the main villain of the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, but also the father of Chris Pratt's Star-lord.

The identity of Peter Quill's father may not be a huge revelation in Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2, according to writer/director James Gunn, but the mystery surrounding who that character will actually be may no longer be a mystery, thanks to Bradley Cooper. The Rocket Raccoon voice actor was promoting his new film Burnt when MTV International asked if he knows who the main villain will be in the 2017 Marvel sequel. His response may be a big spoiler, so scroll below with caution.

In the above video interview, Bradley Cooper initially suggests that Thanos (Josh Brolin) will be the main villain in Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2. And he later implies that the mad titan is the father of "what's his name... the main guy... the Dark-lord." We'd assume he's referring to Star-Lord there, but Cooper's recount of Thanos' big scene  in Guardians of the Galaxy indicates that he's actually referring to Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) being the son of Thanos. Obviously, Cooper doesn't remember much from the first movie. And given he later insinuates not knowing anything about Volume 2, Quill's dad is still a mystery. However, Thanos could be the villain. What do you think?

UPDATE: As many expected, James Gunn has taken to Twitter to respond to Cooper's interview:

Starring Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Vin Diesel (Groot), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Karen Gillan (Nebula), with Bradley Cooper (Rocket), and Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5, 2017.

Thanos is Star Lord's father? Oh God.

That would sound familiar

Yeah, it doesn't line up

Also, why would Thanos go to Earth to shack up with Quill's mom?

@Niklander

I feel like it's gonna be Eros, I think that makes the most sense, and I feel like Star Lord will have a major part in Infinity Wars too

I still wish we were getting Warlock on screen, not as Quill's father, just as Warlock, hopefully that happens, the Thanos/Warlock dynamic is great in the comics....

Well in the Infinity story line, it lets us know that Thanos used to be a hoe....lol. What if that carried over into the movies and Thanos did pipe down Quill's mom?

Of course of joking(not about the Thanos being a hoe part)

okay, so in the video he was clearly referring to Ronan. He for some reason thinks that Ronan is Thanos son, he seems to be just going off the first movie because he does not really seem to know a lot about the lore.

I'm still thinking it's Uncle Thanos and Starfox is his pops...

Bradley didn't seem to know WTF he was talking about, seemed more like the first movie and Thanos being Ronan's dad or something...oh well...sure Gunn will address it.

It would be pretty funny though, if it turns out to be Thanos (Which I doubt it will)

Especially after the Quill and Gamora thing

Aside from the Darth Vader thing, It would be just like Luke and Leia too

There was a time when this movie began filming where it was rumored that Ronin was the son of Thanos. Im assuming that was probably the case at one point, and was changed in post because it was a stupid idea. It was a major discussion point on this site back in the day. Script changes happen constantly and actors doing VO usually do it before filming begins. Prob why it got confused and he is clearly talking about Ronin.
