Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 introduced us to the original Guardians (essentially a far more heroic group of Ravagers), and it seemed obvious at the time director James Gunn had something planned for them. After all, the filmmaker assembled an impressive group of actors to play the team, including Michael Rosenbaum as Martinex, Ving Rhames as Charlie-27, and Michelle Yeoh as Aleta Ogord.
Sylvester Stallone had the biggest role as Stakar Ogord, and confirms in the Instagram post below that he'll be reprising the role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
We don't know whether the legendary Rocky actor is getting more than just an extended cameo this time, but given the early VFX work being done here, something tells us he'll have plenty to do. That's an exciting thought, and we're hoping the same can be said for the rest of these Guardians.
There have been quite a few rumours about Gunn's Vol. 3 plans, but little that can be considered concrete, and certainly nothing regarding Stakar and the rest of Yondu's former allies (rumblings about a spinoff featuring the characters came to naught, but there's a chance that could change one day).
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to be released in theaters on May 5, 2023. Next year, we'll be getting The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Disney+, so Stakar could also show up there.
