Why I think Guardians of the Galaxy will be Amazing!

Here are some reasons I personally think GOTG will be an amazing movie

Okay so first of before I really start I want to say I think Guardians Of The Galaxy will be Marvels 2nd best movie next to Avengers Assemble, Avengers was an amazing movie and even if it wasn't we had waited a long time for it to be made an released it was an exciting moment in not only Marvel history but Comic Book history.
So without further ado here's why I think Guardians Of The Galaxy will be Amazing.

1. The Risk

As we've heard GOTG is a massive risk for Marvel Studios and yes they've said it about Iron Man but I think this is even more of a risk because there are comic book fans out there who don't really know who they are.
Yes they said Iron Man was a risk but lets face it he was always a recognisable face correct me if I'm wrong but I remember in my younger days I knew who he was, No he wasn't a big face like Spidey, Batman or Wolverine but it was a Superhero movie and lets face it these movies pull in an audience (sure they had Downey Jr. but still).
The risk of this movie will add to its success because no one will know what to expect its a Sci-Fi and its based in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

2. The Cast and Characters

This movie has one hell of a cast and some big names like Zoe Saldana, Benicio del Toro, Vin Diesel at first I was kinda let down by Chris Pratt being cast at Star Lord but after a while I realised no this is great because we don't want a pretty boy playing Peter Quill going around sleeping with alien chicks and leading a team of alien misfits, Bradley Cooper playing Rocket Raccoon? WOW I was shocked but that works so well Coopers laid back voice will add character to an already exciting character that I'm sure will pull in the laughs.
Vin Diesel's casting I liked but I thought it would be a shame that he would be playing Groot a character that would say the same thing every time he speaks but no I love this casting now plus like Bradley Cooper this casting choice will bring a lot of movie goers.

3. Marvels first Cosmic Movie

As people who have seen my past articles will know I'm a huge Star Wars fan and I know they've said GOTG wont be Marvel's Star Wars but I hope we see something in GOTG that we only saw parts of in Star Wars and thats the social life in the galaxy with all these different species running about, This'll show a different side to Marvel as well it'll show that Marvel can break the boundaries and show more aliens than just soldiers and such.
One scene I hope we do see, can you remember that concept art of the Guardians and a few other aliens sat around a table in what looked like a bar playing cards? I hope we see that because I'd love to see Peter Quills interaction with other species being a flirt with the ladies and a gambler/smart mouth with others.
I'm also interested in seeing what Marvel do with locations.
Also I always thought when the mention of Marvels Cosmics side came up that Nova would be the first cosmic character used on the big screen so it'll be cool to see if he cameos in this movie or if it'll only be through the Nova corps that he's represented.

4. Its a Team movie

Remember how exciting it was to see the Avengers all together for the first time? Well I think this will be the same but this is us meeting them all together unlike how we met the Avengers individually. Its going to be great seeing the characters interacting and fighting side by side but also it'll be interesting to see how the movie puts them together.
And if it take a team to do it, it indicates that the threat is something really bad.

5. I've been a fan for a long time

The reason I really am looking forward to this movie is because I've read the comics since I was a kid, I used to get graphic novels at decent place in town and one week I went to get a certain book but it was gone I was advised to try Guardians of the Galaxy and ever since I've loved the series when the latest series came out once again I fell in love with the characters and I love that they used this line up for the team.

6. Rocket Raccoon & Groot

Rocket and Groot and going to take the world by storm I have a strong feeling Groot having already been described as the 'Heart of the Team' Bradley Cooper said "I think Rocket is dynamic. He's the sort of Joe Pesci in Goodfellas guy", A Raccoon that can talk, run around on his hind legs, shoot and pilot a star ship will amaze people and I can only picture him as the joker of the team next to Quill.
Groot I think people who have never seen or heard of the character before will surprise people due to his limited vocabulary but at the same time I think they'll love how he's sorta the big muscle of the team Vin Dieseal and Bradley Cooper playing/voicing these characters just add more to them both accomplished actors they're gonna be great, I cant wait for a better look at that scene we saw last year with Rocket on Groots shoulders firing his gun as they engaged in battle.

So what do you guys think and hope for this movie?

This will be magnificent. I don't understand why people think that it will be a flop. It looks awesome, it is part of the MCU which is sure to bring a few people in, it will probably be advertized by WWE and will bring in Batista fans, it may bring Parks and Rec fan which is a big number, there are a lot of sci fi fans that will probably be atracted to it, it has comic book fans from the comic itself and Marvel which will also bring a good number of people and it has big names on it. If it's just because it isn't well known than guess what, Star Wars wasn't known either before the movie was realised because there was nothing. These days it seems that people think that a Blockbuster will flop unless it is based on a well know property. Avatar, The highest grossing movie ever wasn't even officially based on anything and it came out 5 years ago. This just serves to show how Hollywood thinks these days. I am so disapointed with my fellow comic book lovers?

Star Wars and Avatar performed well due in part to revolutionary special effects. I'm not sure what to think yet of this film because I haven't really seen anything. The closest was the Thor after scene I suppose and...meh. I wonder why we still haven't seen much at least for the general audience? Like most, I had never really heard of GotG until the film. I know they've been showcasing the team in their animated Disney shows, and I saw Raccoon in a video game. So far, just that picture of the cast, perhaps they're waiting for Cap, then they'll start a blitz of coverage for it.

Okay, first of all, no, not that many people are gonna watch this movie just because of Cooper and Vin Diesel. Seriously, you think the fans of those actors are gonna turn out in droves just to hear them talk? A few will, but it's gonna take more than just their voice acting to put butts in the seats.

Second, no, just having the Marvel name attached and having it inthe MCU doesn't guarantee success either. Having the Disney name didn't save John Carter or Lone Ranger (and Johnny Depp fans didn't save Lone Ranger either.) Eventually, Marvel will have a flop, simply because if the law of averages. And GotG or Ant-Man are still the biggest bets too bomb.

Whether this film bombs or not is gonna depend on Groot and Rocket Raccoon. If they make those characters believable to general audiences, if general audiences can actually care about them and root for them (like Yoda or Chewbacca), then the movie will do okay. If those characters come off as silly (like Jar Jar), if general audiences think that having a tree and raccoon in the movie is dumb, then the film will bomb, big time.

Oh, and if it does well enough for a sequel, and if they do put up the sequel against Superman/Batman, there won't be a third movie, cause the sequel will be totally, totally blown away. I mean really, you actually think they could compete against the 2 most iconic superheroes of all time? No, Marvel is not that dumb.

Oops, I meant biggest bets to bomb, not "too" bomb. And a sequel would be competing against the first teamup of the 2 most iconic male superheroes ever, along with the most iconic female superhero ever. I would bet money that Marvel either pulls out of that date, or puts up some smaller movie that doesn't have great expectations. They could attempt an Iron Man 4 if they could get RDJ to do it, but that would be stupid too, because while it would probably do ok, it would do much better on a different date with no competition, and their primary goal is to make as much money as possible.

Some of you guys...just convincing yourselves that there's no way a movie can be sub-par...all I have to say is that this is a very dangerous mentality to a approach a movie, or anything, from. Temper your expectations and be realistic. I can get behind the enthusiasm, but be honest with yourselves - a movie, or any other piece of art or fiction, has as much chance at failing as it does succeeding. No such thing as "it has too much going for it" or whatever.

I'm hyped for this one too, but the simple fact is that the '08 team upon which this is based had years upon years of backstory and buildup through events like the Thanos mini and Annihilation. It's gonna take one hell of a well written screenplay and some crafty direction to give importance to these characters without all of the important events that brought them together. I just feel like that comic run didn't happen on a whim, yet all signs point to the movie doing exactly that.

I can't wait. I keep telling people about this movie though and it usually goes like this:

"Hey have you heard of Guardians of the Galaxy?"
"Ummm... no what's it about?"
"It comes out this year and it's set in the MCU. It's a space epic though sort of like Star Wars or Star Trek but still different."
"Ok... so does it have Iron Man in it?"
"No."
"Does it have any of the Avengers in it?"
"No not exactly, it's set in the same universe but it doesn't have anything to do with those characters yet."
"So who does it have in it?"
"An Gamora: an alien assassin (who is said to be the most deadly woman in the universe), Drax (well his history is complicated so it's kinda hard to explain), Star Lord (a guy who's mom was killed by aliens when he was a child and goes up into space to get revenge), Groot (an alien talking tree who is the king of his race), and Rocket (an alien raccoon that can talk and shoot guns). Sounds great doesn't it?"
"..." (Walks away.)

;P

But the movie will prove them all wrong. :D I am incredibly excited. I was a skeptic at first but after I read the books I became a true believer! :D

Great article! The movie can't come out soon enough!

It's a risk i'll admit that but so was the Iron Man film. I think the film can work only because lately sci fi has been the craze. There has been a lot of sci fi films being released which have been critically successful and have been a box office hit.

I think that the film just needs to promote this film straight after Captain America The Winter Soldier has been released in theaters. I am really hyped for GOTG and great article.
