James Gunn Says He's Thought About A GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Spinoff For Nebula

While Nebula (Karen Gillan) had a small but memorable role in Guardians of the Galaxy, she's set to have a much larger presence when she returns in the sequel next year, seemingly as a member of the team. The assassin daughter of Thanos is arguably one of the best female characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it seems that director James Gunn believes the villain could carry her own film.

When responding to a fan on Twitter who said that Nebula should lead her own solo film, Gunn wholeheartedly agreed and said it was something he's thought about since he started working on the franchise. "I have a few favorites myself, but I agree that Nebula should lead her own film - it's something I've thought about from the beginning."

Of course, Nebula will have to contend with her sister Gamora (Zoe Saldana) when they reunite in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and after their fight aboard the Dark Aster in the first film, it's likely there will be quite a bit of tension. Back in September, Gunn said the relationship between the two sisters would be further explored in the sequel. "The first movie was really about becoming a family. This movie is about being a family. And what's harder, becoming a family or being a family? I think it's being a family. That's where you really have to deal with each other. And that's what this movie is about. And their sisters. They are family, whether they like it or not. And they also want to kill each other, so it adds a new twist to being a sister."

Would you want to see a spinoff starring Nebula? Let us know in the comments.

Beyond Ronan and Thanos, she was the weakest link in that film.

People suggested Nebula should get her own movie?? What, as a prank? LOL! She was barely in first installment so can't honestly even say if I liked her or not, she didn't have much time to become memorable. While they're added might as well include Sharon Carter and Jane Foster in there to complete the dream team lmao!!

Didn't think much of Nebula. Gillan just stomped around the place and looked sullen during her scenes. Hopefully she'll actually get to act in Vol 2.

A Gamorra and Nebula team up movie would be interesting. Especially if they have to go on some kind of mission and are forced to work together and maybe work out any issues they have. Also would give the chance for them to make a film with strong female leads without the clichés.
