Without getting into spoilers, James Gunn showed his more ruthless side in The Suicide Squad by killing off some pretty major characters, and it sounds like the director might be taking a similar approach to the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
While it's highly unlikely we'll see too many casualties among the core team of intergalactic A-holes, Gunn did strongly hint that we might well be losing someone in the Marvel Studios threequel.
"There's a much bigger sense of danger for all of our characters [in the Suicide Squad] because we know all of them could die," Gunn told ET in a recent interview. "Whereas in Guardians, yes, obviously I killed Yondu, I killed the big original Groot, but it isn't the same thing. We know most of them are going to make it out alive. At least for two movies."
When asked to elaborate on his ominous tease, Gunn responded: "You'll have to wait and see."
Again, it's difficult to imagine Gunn going too kill-crazy in the family-friendly MCU adventure, but the filmmaker has confirmed that this will be his final GOTG movie, so we are anticipating an emotional sendoff for at least one beloved Guardian. Place your bets below!
Last we heard, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was still on track to begin shooting before the end of the year.
