GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3: Sylvester Stallone Confirms He Will Return As Stakar Ogord

It looks like we'll definitely see more of the original Guardians in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as Sylvester Stallone has confirmed that he's in the process of working on the threequel as Stakar Ogord.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 introduced us to the original Guardians (essentially a far more heroic group of Ravagers), and it seemed obvious at the time director James Gunn had something planned for them. After all, the filmmaker assembled an impressive group of actors to play the team, including Michael Rosenbaum as Martinex, Ving Rhames as Charlie-27, and Michelle Yeoh as Aleta Ogord.

Sylvester Stallone had the biggest role as Stakar Ogord, and confirms in the Instagram post below that he'll be reprising the role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

We don't know whether the legendary Rocky actor is getting more than just an extended cameo this time, but given the early VFX work being done here, something tells us he'll have plenty to do. That's an exciting thought, and we're hoping the same can be said for the rest of these Guardians.

There have been quite a few rumours about Gunn's Vol. 3 plans, but little that can be considered concrete, and certainly nothing regarding Stakar and the rest of Yondu's former allies (rumblings about a spinoff featuring the characters came to naught, but there's a chance that could change one day).

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to be released in theaters on May 5, 2023. Next year, we'll be getting The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Disney+, so Stakar could also show up there.

Awesome! Heck yeah. Would love for there to be an OG Ravagers D+ miniseries.

My favourite part of Guardians 2 was Stallone's scene. So I guess this is good news.

@TheManWithoutFear - I actually kinda agree 😂 I was disappointed by the film.

I suddenly got the urge to see Rocket Racoon react to Quill playing 'Range Rover Bros', specifically that part

Kinda surprising, but I'm cool with it. I'm assuming it'll be just another small cameo like in GOTG2.

I was surprisingly invested in both Stallone's, Rooker's and the other Ravagers' character. Hope we get to see them all return in some or another

@bkmeijer - Gunn thrives on getting us to care about people we have no business caring about.

I always figured that he would. He might be the lead in these films after Vol. 3.

@Origame - that was the good stuff, not laughing at Quill or mocking Mantis. Or the nipple thing. Or thinking he’s invisible. But I must admit, tho I didn’t laugh at the penis size of the planet (no laughing matter!), it fits the literalness… I just still wouldn’t have used it. But “you’re like an old lady” “is it because I’m wise?” “Why is Gamora?!” And the one you just sent, those were how you do Drax right. The finger across the neck too.

And more of the prison fight stuff. They messed up with him losing to Ronan so easily. Destroy!

@TheWalkingCuban - "He's an idiot" after praising Quilt for a while was pretty fun too lol.

@Kadara - yes also the green whore thing. Those jokes led to his honesty about Mantis but dang maybe Gunn has no filter… oh yeah, he doesn’t.

As someone who thought GotG 1 was a solid film, albeit having a copy and paste plot from Avengers 2012 and in my opinion, being a very by the book MCU film (it genuinely has all the staples of what makes a good MCU film) and then someone who didn’t like GotG2 at first, I gotta admit I’m extremely excited for Gunn’s GotG3. I mean he casted Will [frick]ing Poulter as Adam Warlock 🤣🤣🤣 that’s hilarious. No one saw that coming. I have grown tk appreciate how Gunn operates. Guy definitely isn’t just some wannabe director. He legit has a voice and that’s not something a lot of creators can truly say and feel good about it. I’ve watched GotG 2 on mushrooms 2 separate times over the last 5 years, and man I enjoy that movie lol. I just felt like it was missing SOMETHING. Then with Gunn’s foray into DC, I realized I love my James Gunn without any restrictions or chains attached. Rated R Gunn is just a journey man. I loved The Suicide Squad. Best cbm of the year and I don’t think it’s all that close to be honest.

@McMurdo - Loved The Suicide Squad too. I have four in contention for my favourite films of the year, they change every day. It’s out of The Suicide Squad, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Shang-Chi and In The Heights.

I agree about Guardians and Guardians 2, although I don’t do drugs so I never got to love Guardians 2 more through shrooms 😂
