Awesome New HELLBOY Image Released As Director Neil Marshall Promises A "More Violent And Bloody" Movie

A brand new look at David Habour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy from the upcoming reboot has been released, while the movie's director promises to take advantage of the R-Rating with blood and guts...

Initially, there was a lot of excitement surrounding the Hellboy reboot but as soon as actors like Milla Jovovich and Ian McShane started signing up, it became clear that Lionsgate might be taking the movie down the same route as something like Underworld!

Throw in the fact that the leaked trailer gave off that exact same tone and the studio may have its work cut out when it comes to convincing fans of the character and Guillermo del Toro's beloved films that this one is worth watching. Regardless, director Neil Marshall has now opened up about what exactly fans should expect.

"It was always a case of, ‘When in doubt, go back to the source material.’ Some of the stuff is pretty sick," he reveals. "More violent and more bloody. We weren’t making it with handcuffs on."

It's certainly an interesting approach and one which may or may not pay off. We'll have to wait and see, of course, but this image is very cool and we'll let you share your thoughts on it down below.

@emeraldtaurus - Speedos aint comparable to godamn goat legs. And look how cavill's superman turned out. He should have had speedos.

@emeraldtaurus - Nobody remembers that because everyone who comments here jumped on the bandwagon 4 or 5 years after that.

@HelaCipher - I actually loved the Cavill Super-suit..think it was Supes best look if I'm honest. Very detailed and cool. The Super speedos were redonkulous ! Badly needed change

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Never noticed that, so cool! Del Toro usually had him in heavy boots to cover his feet, I wonder if Marshall will do the same or just keep most shots above his feet to avoid the necessary CGI.

@HelaCipher - Why does it look like CGI? I thought this was going to be more "real"...

@HelaCipher - Don't know that there is anything better readily available, but I did find this snippet. I didn't know there was any sort of trailer either.

I'm hard-pressed to see this movie doing any better than the Del Toro films at the box office and, while making money, they weren't exactly "hits".

His torso looks like a face to me lol.

Looks good though.

I realize the above is just a still but the right hand of doom looks stiff and limp and awkward.

The photo looks good but I'm waiting for the trailer to be officially released before I make any judgements.

Don't really care for the look. They had a chance to make him look more like Mignola's design with the ape-like features, but instead he looks like an old man version of Perlman.

I just don’t get the point of this. He looks exactly like the Perlman one to me, I can barely tell the difference. The tone looks similar. Perlman was Hellboy the way Downey Jr is Iron Man. This is just gonna be a slightly bloodier version of the originals without the magic of Del Toro or Perlman. If you can’t improve on the original, why bother rebooting.

I think Hellboy 2 gets better every time I watch it. Love that flick. And the comedy notes are gold.

@connorblaze - Nah does not look like Perlman at all to me. Too much hair, he kind of looks like Jack Nicholson in Wolf.

But yes the GDT films are awesome, he changed the lore but made wonderful films

I can’t get over that chinpiece Harbor has. It looks bad imo

Anyone else think so? Like there are issues I have with the film (Professor Broom alive, Daimio never met Hellboy in the comics, Alice looks to be a part of the BPRD which she wasn’t in the comics), all of which I’m ok with because it’s a movie & doesn’t mean the film may be bad but none of that makes me more concerned then that chinpiece Harbor has. It just looks so bad imo
