Ron Perlman Says He Will "Never Give Up" On Hellboy 3

The film may have failed to get a greenlight from the studio, but Hellboy himself Ron Perlman remains adamant about his desire to see Hellboy 3 get made.

Despite favorable reactions from fans, the first two Hellboy films didn't manage to make a splash at the box office, making the possibilities of the long-desired third film a longshot. Both Guillermo del Toro and Hellboy himself, Ron Perlman, have been adamant about their desires to make the film, but they have failed to get a greenlight from the studio because of the financial risk.

The first film earned $99 million from a $66 million budget, while the second earned $160 from an $85 million budget. While those numbers certainly aren't terrible, and don't make the films flops, it makes the studio hesitant for a third installment (which, del Toro has said, would be even more expensive).

In a recent intervew, Perlman spoke out about his continued love for the property and his desire to make the third film happen. In fact, he doesn't just want to make the film, he actively fights for it "ever day."

“I’d like to finish it. I’d like for there to be a third film because the first two films were set up for this huge resolve and he (Guillermo Del Toro) already understands what that resolve will look like. He never gave me the nuts and bolts of it, but he gave me a rather broad strokes sketch of what the third film would look like and it’s so epic and so deserved by the fans that hung in there for the first two that I really feel as though it’s essential that we make it. So I fight for it every day. Sometimes I’m the only voice and sometimes there are others, but I’m never going to stop trying to get Hellboy 3 made!”

What do you think of his comments? It's great to hear how much he wants to make the film, but that doesn't mean it's ever going to happen. Tell us, do you think we'll ever see Hellboy 3?
