Carla Hey from The Examiner recently caught up with famed SciFi actor Ron Perlman while he was in New York City promoting Season of the Witch. In an exclusive interview he discussed many topics ranging from his current film Season of the Witch, his acclaimed television series Sons of Anarchy and his first film Quest For Fire.

The portion of the interview we as CBM fans would be interested in, would of course be the part where they discuss Conan and a possible Hellboy 3.

What can you say about your role in the 2011 remake of "Conan the Barbarian"?

I play Conan’s father. There’s big-time sword action. But I’m only in the movie for 10 minutes. I can’t tell everything, but the first sequence is huge. It’s epic. All I can tell you is that I work with the Conan who’s 11 years old. And there’s a jump cut to Conan the adult, and I’m no longer on the scene. I don’t want to give away anything.

I never worked with [Jason] Momoa, who’s the adult Conan. I only worked with this kid [Leo Howard], who’s a phenomenal actor. And he’s like a North American champion of swords since he was 4 years old. He had a black belt [in martial arts] by the time he was 4. He’s a swordsman and he’s mind-boggling. He made me look like a piker.

You’re expected to work with filmmaker Guillermo del Toro on "Hellboy 3" and "At the Mountains of Madness." What’s the status of those movies?

He was trying to do "Mountains of Madness." That’s been his number-one labor-of-love movie that he’s been trying to do for a number of years. I think that was the one he identified as the next one he’d like to do. Because I’ve been away working and he’s been away doing other stuff, I haven’t had a chance to catch up with him personally to see everything’s going and where everything is at.

I hope there’s a third "Hellboy," simply because he always thought of it as a trilogy. And when he set up that [Liz Sherman, Hellboy’s love interest] is pregnant with twins at the end of "Hellboy 2," he kind of sketched out what the third "Hellboy" movie would look like. It’s so theatrical. It’s so epic. It’s so dark.

And also, we have to find out about the Hellboy destiny. It’s written in stone that he’s going to destroy mankind. That’s what he’s been brought to Earth to do. So the whole dialogue between nurture and nature gets to live itself out in the third "Hellboy" movie. But if there’s no third one, then the audience doesn’t get to see any of that.

Well, there are lots of people who are hoping there will be a "Hellboy 3."

I hope so too. It’s worth doing.

nailbiter: This is not the first time he or del Toro has mentioned the trilogy aspect. If you have watched the first two and failed to see that they were setting up the exact things that Perlman talks about here, I don't know what to tell you.

@nailbiter- Um what? How is he lying, most comic book franchises aim for a trilogy, he's probably got a contract that is a three picture deal. Hardly makes him a clown for wanting to finish the trilogy.

I loved both of the Hell Boys and am really intrested in seeing the final movie get made. Del Toro should do another Comic book title , in fact he is who they should have gotten for Ghost Rider.

I look forward to a Hellboy 3. I loved the first one, the second was... meh, alright, didn't hate it. But I'd love to see some grittiness in the third installment. Hellboy can kick some major ass and I'd love to see that happen. Some brutal ass kicking.

I rewatched Hellboy and Hellboy 2 last week. I didn't remember either being as good as they were. Awesome CBMs and I can't wait to see a third, I hope it's sooner, rather than later.

Thats not to say that I disliked the first one in any way.

I'm sorry, were there people above that dissed Ron Perlman? Why? I have seen zero evidence that that guy is not cool, so I think those people can take their uninformed opinion and go.

Both Hellboys were good, and I want to see Mountains of Madness too. Del Toro just needs to make a ton more movies. I don't care in what order.

lol @ nailbiter, you wouldn't say clown to his face since he'd probably give you that blank look and you would pee yourself. So, instead, you call him a clown on the internet, which he will probably never even see, man you are so cool. Trying to get the role of the Internet Tough Guy down or something? You're perfect for the role, so no worries.

It sounds like we will have a Conan movie with lots of good sword action which is exactly how it should be. We already know that Momoa is skilled with the sword, so that has me stoked for the battle scenes.

If Hellboy has two annoying kids in the third one i hope they dont do it!:/
Im much much interested about At the Mountains of Madness and Conan than two hellboy twins hunting creatures with their father! That sounds so corny!
Young Hellboy in the second episode was enough for me!

Hasn't del Toro said that it all depended on Ron? So if Ron's up for it, then let's do it.

The Hellboy destiny thing sounds really cool and exciting.

Hellboy 3, now that the technology is there, should pull an "avatar" and use motion capture for hell boy, it would be AWESOME looking. ROn looks ok in previous films, but motion capture is the way to go IMO. and i dont want to see him with kids >:P

The way he described the first scene is makin me giddy. Ron's the man, and I'm cool with another Hellboy. I enjoyed the first, but I was expecting something grittier with the second. My hope is he actually gets to do III.
