Lionsgate has hired Noble Jones to pen a script for a remake of the modern horror film
American Psycho. Noble's only notable credit is Second-Unit Director for
The Social Network. The project has not been given a green light however, which could only mean that they would really have to like the story before moving forward.
American Psycho, based on the novel of the same name, was written by Bret Easton-Ellis and, as most of you know, was previously turned into a feature film in 2000. That film starred
The Dark Knight Rises star Christian Bale as Patrick Batemen, a rising business man during the day, brutal serial killer by night. The film, directed by Mary Harron, is a violent mind [frick] like no other, but it is extremely well done. It also pushed the boundaries of what could be accepted in a Rated-R film. The film also starred Reese Witherspoon, Jared Leto, Josh Lucas and Justin Theroux.
It will be very interesting to see if Lionsgate and Noble continue with that same violent pattern, or if they even take it up a notch, now that the MPAA has relaxed some on their ratings, if only just a little.
