Earlier today, Sony Pictures released the first trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and fans of the franchise seem to be very happy with what they've seen so far (especially as the sillier tone of the 2016 reboot is nowhere to be found and it's more in line with the first two classic movies).

With the new lead characters related to one of the original Ghostbusters and Easter Eggs aplenty - including the apparent return of Slimer - it seems fair to say that this sequel has the potential to be something very special indeed. Not everyone is going to love the focus on child actors, of course, but the addition of Paul Rudd arguably more than makes up for that.

Mckenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard being so riculously talented is another bonus, of course!

Now, we've rounded up a massive gallery of hi-res screenshots from the Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer so you guys can take a closer look at all the biggest moments and nods to the classic films.

The effects for the particle beam looks mad good.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - yeah I was coming here to say that the cgi likely isn't anywhere near done, which is why we only get passing glimpses of the ghosts/monsters, but they definitely got the effects down already for the beam

This movie looks great so far, and the trailer seems too get Ghostbusters humor.

"Hey, remember that one summer when we died under our table?”

Loved everything about it other than kids using the equipment. I don’t want the new team to have kids on it.

Off-topic: “We’re all gonna die. May as well do it while we’re alive.” What the [frick] does that even mean?!

Tough-sell on the action figures... Unless they're ordered by British Royalty.

Alright, finally watched it.

I was honestly thinking about not even watching it at all because I'm so burned out on this franchise. There hasn't been a good movie since the original and the shit that went down with the last one was so insane that I honestly didn't even wanna think about this franchise again afterwards.

But I gotta say... I like what I'm seeing.

They had to ruin ghost busters again 😞 what's with everyone an adding stupid kids to every film nowadays. First the predator then Godzilla and now GB. Hard pass on this Nancy drew blues clues turd. It looks like really bad Nickelodeon film

I re-saw the original recently and I can see my perception of its brilliance fading somewhat. That said, I still can imagine a perfect Ghostbusters movie. This doesn't seem like that at all, but at least maybe it might be watchable. I'm not sure. The kids thing seems forced.

@ImmovableForce - Yeah, I'm bot feeling it. It feels more E.T. than Ghostbusters.

It's like a whe different movie but the using the Car from Ghostbusters.

I hope Finn Wolfhard isn’t as big a turd as he was in season 3 of strangle things. Maybe I’m getting old but I really wanted to slap his insolent face

Not really into the kids being the new Ghost busters throughout. I would rather it be adults like Paul Rudd's character etc. step up to that after a little while. But other than that it looks very intersting. A true sequel to the originals, rather than that reboot fisaco, and I like the different take on it all.
