New GHOSTBUSTERS Movie Set In The Original Universe In The Works From Director Jason Reitman
We have some great news to shake away those Tuesday cobwebs! It's been announced that there's a new Ghostbusters movie on the way from Jason Reitman, and it'll be set in the same universe as the original.
Who you gonna call?
There's a new Ghostbusters movie on the way, and this one will be set in the same universe as the beloved original!
Details are sparse, but Entertainment Weekly reports that director Jason Reitman (Tully, The Front Runner) will helm the project, following on from the narrative that was established in his father Ivan Reitman's iconic horror comedy back in 1984.
“I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans,” Reitman explains. “This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ‘80s happened in the ‘80s, and this is set in the present day.”
Reitman penned the script in secret (which is why we're only just hearing about the project) with with Monster House and Poltergeist remake director Gil Kenan. Specific story details are still under wraps, but we do know that the new team will consist of four teenagers, two male and two female.
The new Ghostbusters movie is expected to hit theaters during the Summer of 2020, and is scheduled to commence production in a few months.
