Gina Davis Try's To Spark Life Into Beetle Juice 2!

Now that that's out of the way!

This from Moviehole.com:

"It's funny, [another journalist] just asked me about a sequel to Beetlejuice - which, though I haven't heard anything about it, might be interesting", Davis told me yesterday. "I would do that!".

"Thing is, do ghosts age?", asks Davis. "Wouldn't we be stuck in the age we were? Alec [Baldwin] and I would have to look as we did then - who knows, maybe we could? I better get in touch with Tim Burton".

A script entitled "Beetlejuice goes Hawaiian", written by Jonathan Gems, was pitched only to Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder in the early 90's. The script had its issues and has been stuck in development hell ever since. Keaton had this to say from an interview with Joblo in 2005:

"At one point, I had the conversation with Tim, saying "I love this movie so much; I think there's one more in there somewhere", Keaton states. "And we both talked about it, and I think there was a script written once years ago that wasn't quite it. I would consider that, yeah, a lot. I would seriously consider that."

So re write the script and get on with it. I say leave Winona out of it except for a cameo. Beetlejuice can not be tamed or watched over and he already terrorized Winona in the first installment. Now if you leave Winona out of it should they bring back Davis and Baldwin as characters in the sequel or merely have them appear as a cameo as well?

My first theater experience was Beetlejuice when I was.. oh 2 years old. Surprisingly, I was told that I didn't cry or fuss.

Love this movie to death, although I still don't understand why it's called Beetlejuice when in the movie it's spelled Beatle Guese or whatever, I forgot how it was spelt, but it reminded me how weird it was.

keaton as beetlejuice - most underrated performance OF ALL TIME! the man is amazing! between this role and bruce wayne its mind bending why this guy isn't legendary with the likes of tom hanks, maryl streep and george clooney. i dunno why he just stopped getting alot of work at one point.

sign me up for beetlejuice 2 3 and 4!

hells yeah...beetlejuice, beetlejuice, beetlejuice.

Michael Keaton is the man and by far the only TRUE choice to ever reclaim the ghastly beetlejuice black & white stripes.

yes there needs to be sequel. more types of these movies should start popping up though...esp. after hearing about Tim Burton taking on the challenge of stop-motion animating the Addams Family. but it's good b/c we need more of these movies...an ass load more.

They'll probably wind up giving Beetlejuice a kid. That seems to be all the rage for sequels to movies that came out over 20 years ago

lol. Sorry but I would so go see a sequel to this. I like Beetlejuice.
@SuperMario how do you give a ghost a kid?? Sorry but I don't get how they would do that. LMAO.

@InstigatorGirl

Merely making criticisms of these ridiculous sequels to decades old movies. The actors become too old, so they always wind up giving the characters children. Of course it's not possible to give a ghost a kid, but i wouldn't put it past hollywood.

@BmanHall

LOL! GAWD that movie was terrible! The madness never ends!

Ace Ventura, Kevin Flynn, Laurie Strode, Indiana Jones. Hell, they even gave SUPERMAN a kid!

I'd actually be happy with a sequel. The first was hilarious, my second favorite Tim Burton movie, after Ed Wood.

Better a sequel than a reboot. Haley Joel Osment stars as Beetlejuice!

Whoever came up with the whole give the iconic character a kid idea needs to be kicked square in the nuts!!

With the Make up, you wouldn't be able to tell how old Michael Keaton has gotten. LOL It'll be like the story just picked up right after the last movie. I say DO IT. I can't wait. BEETLE JUICE, BEETLE JUICE, BEETLE JUICE !!!!!!!

a sequel would be awesome but I cant imagine how they would do it "right". I cant imagine todays look and feel of movies working... But thats not to say it isnt possible.

I say not really a sequal, just a second movie. New Story, new actors, have Beetlejuice haunting someone else. Have Keaton as BJ. He was no longer with Babs, Adam, and Lydia, so don't even have them in it. Just have someone new hire beelejuice

I wouldn't mind seeing another one with new actors/characters but still have Keaton as Beetlejuice. They could even explain the whole sand worm thing for once lol.

I remember watching a double feature with Batman/Beetlejuice when I was 6. Keaton was awesome in both!!! I think it'd be worth a try with a good enough script. All new characters except for Beetlejuice.

it's time for me to step away from my usual over-hyped optimism for 3 things i hate about hollywood movies:

1) ace ventura jr, which was the the 3rd in the series, was a complete and utter disaster, even the trailer looked horrifying, i couldn't seriously watch it for 5 minutes, literally..

2) it was very painful to sit through smokin' aces 2, even more then little ace. that just might be the worst movie i have ever seen..

and 3) no, no, no, to beetlejuice 2! not only do i hate a "themed" sequel to a classic, but i loved the first one beyond a lot of others in my long list of faves, but this is one movie that deserves to be a standalone.. all movies, i believe, should be a solo flick, or a trilogy, just making 2 makes the story look a little incomplete from a distance.. don't get me wrong, there are exceptions, like rob zombie's films, especially the rejects series.. but i hear t-rex might fit into that whole universe so i might consider that a part three when it comes out.. even though they did finish off the story in a really good fashion at the end of part 2, it will be hard to do anything after that..

at least they are making 'moon' with sam rockwell, a complete trilogy saga, i know that story arc has finished, but there are others i heard that connect to that plot and stuff..

The first is one of Burton's true triumphs, and a modern classic imo.

Could be pretty funny: an old curmudgeon Beetlejuice (not that he wasn't already lol). I GUARANTEE you he wouldn't have the same energy, which was one of the things that made him so great.

But all in all, I'm not opposed. I mean it's not so dissimilar to doing Ghostbusters 3.

To the fans of Beetlejuice. A sequel script is being written and written well. I am sure Beetlejuice fans will enjoy this sequel. Within a few weeks the script will be in the hands(hopefully)of the powers to be. I'll keep fans informed of the progress.
