So-so remake of the Wes Craven horror classic about a dead burned-up pedophile who kills teenagers in their dreams. Pretty predictable for the most part with some recycled visuals. Freddy Krueger is a lot creepier in this movie and he looks like a more realistic burn victim. Like most remakes they delved a little deeper into the killer's origin but other than that the writing was a bit redundant.
Jackie Earle Haley ["Little Children", "Watchmen", "Shutter Island", "Human Target"] did a great job but even that couldn't save this movie from being pretty disappointing, he was definitely the highlight of this movie [as was expected]. Good performances by Rooney Mara [as Nancy] and Kyle Gallner. Decent performances by Thomas Dekker ["Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"], Clancy Brown ["The Shawshank Redemption"], and Kellan Lutz ["Twilight"].
The ending is pretty solid though. Not really worth seeing in theaters unless you scare easily, I'd advise most people to wait for the DVD and rent it. Overall it was decent film but not scary, it would have been a much better horror movie [and a better film in general] had they chosen a good established suspense/horror director.
