In a move that no one saw coming, Saw will be rebooted with the help of noneother than Chris Rock. This isn't the first time household comedians have delved into the genre (Jordan Peele, Danny McBride), but a move of this sort still never ceases to suprise general audiences.

In a very extensive announcement, Legendary has also revealed the creative team behind the reboot, as well as a release date. Coming out October 23, 2020, the reboot will see the return of producers James Wan and Leigh Whannell, while also bring back Saw II director Darren Lynn Bousman to the fold. The film is expected to build off the existing mythology of the first few installments. "I’ve been a fan of Saw since the first film in 2004, I am excited by the opportunity to take this to a really intense and twisted new place." Rock says.

In addition to the announcement, the team behind the sequel very much praised Rock's vision, adjusting the franchise to the modern world in a crazy new fashion. At the very least, this will no doubt be a reboot that will intrigue existing fans of the genre and the series.

Please don't be a politically or socially driven movie.

The first one was so good and that twist got me!

@CBMFilmJunkie - You do realize that every film, every song, every comic, every piece of art is a political statement whether the statement is good or bad right?

@CBMFilmJunkie - If I was to take a guess it won't be politically correct. The reason I say that is because he has spoken out about how that has hurt comedy. Now that isn't to say it won't have politics in it, but I just wouldn't expect the next saw to be PC.

Why is it now dark material is com ik ng from the comedians now. Jordan Peele, Danny McBride, now Chris Rock. And that not knocking any of them but they got some dark minds.

@MrCamw1 - They're still trying to put smiles on peoples faces, so horror is the way to go since now comedy just makes everyone cry.

Just make so that no legit innocent people have to die and the game is winnable. It got to the point where some of these traps werent meant to either win or survive. Also no more secret apprentice stories.

My home movie collection has always had just as much comedy as horror... it’s generally known that comedians tend to be dark and depressed, so I guess this shit goes hand in hand? Anyway, not too hyped about this. Guess we’ll see what happens.

Is this guy seriously comparing Danny Mcbrides little role in Alien Covenant, to the mastermind that is Jordan Peele at this point? That's just disrespectful!

@Procyon - I think “mastermind” is a little strong.
