TERRIFIER 3 Officially In Development; Lauren LaVera Will Return As Sienna

Following the massive success of the last movie, we have official word that a third Terrifier is in the works, and Lauren LaVera's Sienna will be back to stand in Art the Clown's way...

We knew it'd only be a matter of time after the massive success of Terrifier 2, which made $15 million at the global box office from a budget of just $250k, and France-based distribution outfit The Coven (via Deadline) has now officially announced that a third movie is in the works.

Production is scheduled to begin later this year, and Art the Clown should return to our screens for more gruesome adventures in late 2024.

Story details (does anyone really care about the story?) are still under wraps, but David Howard Thornton will reprise his role as the unkillable mime, and Lauren LaVera is also expected to return as the second movie's fan-favorite protagonist, Sienna.

Writer-director Damien Leone and producer Phil Falcone are back on board, and are said to be pushing to double the budget of the second film.

“Terrifier 3 will be another boundary pushing addition to the horror genre, continuing the no holds barred, uncompromising exploits fans of the franchise have come to expect and celebrate," Leone said. “If you thought Art the Clown’s reign of terror in part 2 was extreme, you haven’t seen anything yet.”

Depending on your tolerance for truly sickening gore, this could be taken as either a promise or a threat! The recent sequel contained one of the most disturbingly horrific scenes in horror movie history (even if it was at least partially played for laughs), so we can only imagine what the next movie has in store.

The movie is garbage. The only thing it has going for it is how extreme the violence is. And that’s only if you like that sort of thing.

@philinterrupted - Nah, I thought it was funny, inventive, and yes, very gory (I do like that sort of thing). But I also liked LaVera and Art the Clown is a genuinely creepy monster.

@MarkCassidy - art the clown is certainly creepy looking. But the story is hot garbage.

@philinterrupted - You kind of have to watch it through the lease of a b to c-movie horror lens though. Considering it was made with a $250,000 budget, it's pretty incredible what they were able to do. I typically don't like gore for the sake of gore, like Saw or Hostel, but there's something more appealing when there's an element of fantasy to it, like having it be done by a terrifying mime... or an undead terrifying mime.

While I agree that the story isn't the deepest, especially in the first movie, the concept was simple enough... sinister and murderous clown terrorizes 2 friends and anyone else caught in between them.

@philinterrupted - clearly you're too stupid to understand schlock

@Demigods - the first one was infinitely better than the second.
I also forgot the second one was 2 hours 20 minutes. That’s a [frick]ing insane runtime for a movie with almost no substance.

@bobevanz - it’s true, I am a [frick]ing idiot. But, excusing a movie for being terrible by saying it’s schlock or in other cases campy usually comes from someone who doesn’t understand what either of those are.

@philinterrupted -

You are right. Total crap. No nerd justification can help it.

@philinterrupted - Agreed. These aren't really my kind of horror movies. It's like the Hostel series. It's all gore and no real substance.

I just watched the first 2 last weekend they're the most disturbing movies I've ever seen since I was a 5 year kid watching the first Predator. Glad Lauren LaVera is coming back I loved her character.

@dragon316 - they're pretty extreme lol. The first is simple enough as a concept, whereas the second tried to apply a more cohesive and connected arc to the characters. They're definitely worth a watch if you're a horror fan.

The first is coming back to theaters for one night next month, I didn't like the second as much. Way too long and you could tell the creator was trying to paint a picture, but forgot the watercolors. Horror movies shouldn't be over two hours except Ari Aster's movies lol

I wasn’t a huge fan of 2. I actually watched 1 a week before and enjoyed it as a quick paced ultra gory b flick. 2 was too long for me and went heavy to gross out and be cruel. I’m glad they exist, but not my cup of tea

I enjoyed the first but thought 2 was a bloated mess. It tried to expand on the mythology but didn't make much sense or add value for me - It also has probably the most horrific kill I think I've ever seen.
