Like it or not, vampires are the flavor of the month and Warner Brothers wants a piece of the action. The studio has opted to pick up a film adaptation of the comic book mini-series Undying Love, which was created by Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman for Image Comics. The pair will also write the script for the film.

For those not familiar with the series, here is a bit of a rundown, which ties vampire lore in with Chinese "monster myths":

The story centers on an ex-soldier who falls for a girl that happens to be a vampire. The only way the two can be together is if the man takes on the vampire who created her, which also means fighting an army of monsters in the Hong Kong underworld.

The film will be produced by Stephen L’Heureux and "Benderspink," run by Chris Bender and J.C. Spink. No word on release date or cast at this time. I haven't read this series so I can't comment on it, but the idea sounds interesting.

Compared to many people on CBM, I'm a relative newbie to the comic book world. I've just recently (within the last 10 years or so) started reading comics. However, I've been a fan of comic book characters nearly all my life, thanks to cartoons like the X-Men Series and Batman. Been downhill ever since.

I am an avid movie watcher and run my own movie website,(GeekBoyMovieNews) which covers a wide variety of movies, books and television news. There is nothing better to me than to sit back and a enjoy a good movie, or a crappy one for a good laugh.

While you may not see a lot of articles submitted by me, I've been an active user for close to three years here on CBM and I enjoy every minute on here. We have the best online community on the net her at CBM.com.

I've been lucky enough to climb the ranks here at CBM and the almighty Galactus has chosen me to act as one of his Heralds (Jr. Editor). So if you ever need suggestions or help on articles, I am more than happy to help out; you can find me in the CBM chat quite often. I also assist Big G in his "Beat Galactus Quizzes," so if you feel like you have a good question for the next quiz or suggestions on making them work better and more smoothly, feel free to drop me a line.

I look forward to talking and discussing comic books and their movies with all of you on the site!

well I like the sound of one guy taking on army of monsters in Hong Kong which in other words means were not going to get some sappy and boring teen vampire romance.althoug vamps are overused I haven't seen a good camp action movie since Blade.

i'd rather they concentrate on getting dc comic characters right, than taking on other projects.

Really, WB?Buying the film rights to an Image vampire comic?

Why can't they just produce films based on titles like I, Vampire, American Vampire, Vamps, Bite Club or Blood and Water?

Those are DC and Vertigo comics.I'm not that big in to romance and guys having to fight monsters for chicks.I'd much rather see I, Vampire, were a guy is turned into a vampire and vows not to be like the rest of them. The only human he ever bit was his lover, who wanted to be with him.

But she did embrace the ways of the other vampires and became one of the most powerful and evil of them all.He pretty much spent the next few centuries trying to defeat her.

They're even relaunching this title as part of the new 52.I'd think it would be a prime candidate for the film treatment.

But, this is WB.The same guys who are also developing movies based on Akira, Ninja Scroll, Bleach and RASL.Basically any comic book/manga that isn't a DC property.

You know this really needs to be made, because pop culture doesn't have enough vampires flooding it....

Seriously though, WB should be focused on bringing their DC properties to the big screen.

That being said, I haven't read this, so they may make something awesome with it. I'm just over the vampire craze.

Oh great...yet another sappy vampire story portraying vampires as love sick emos...monsters should be monsters! Priest got it right!

Sounds pretty cool!
I love the whole 'vampire craze' everyone loves vamps! :D

@Jimdlux How is this portraying vampires as 'love sick emo's'!? you're crazy. Suggesting that vampires can't fall in love is just wrong, even in the earliest vampire movies you had more civilised vampires than mindless zombie-wannabe's like you're suggesting.

Yeah what exactly is going on over at WB? They have all of these fantastic characters and they refuse to make movies out of them. Excluding of course Batman, Superman, Jonah Hex and Green Lantern...three of which are bad. But still really confusing, I thought big studios liked making money???

Somehow this being adapted into film format does not seem like news.
