ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP Star Emma Stone Pitched A Crossover With THE WALKING DEAD

The worlds of The Walking Dead and Zombieland: Double Tap are obviously very different, but there's a reference to that long-running comic book in the sequel, and it sounds like there was even talk of a crossover!

During a recent interview, Ruben Fleischer revealed that Emma Stone pitched the idea of actors from the AMC series making an appearance in the movie. "Emma had a funny idea that as our heroes are kind of making their way through the post-apocalyptic landscape, they come across, just in passing, some members of the cast of the Walking Dead," the filmmaker explained.

"But we never were able to make that happen."

As for why the pieces never fell into place, Fleischer went on to say that including the comics was ultimately a more effective "nod" to The Walking Dead, and that having cast members from the show appear might have been a little too "Scooby-Doo, like the Harlem Globetrotters showing up."

That makes sense, and Zombieland: Double Tap already includes some other fun cameos (one of which was spoiled in the latest trailer for the movie).

That would have been funny but the movie certainly didn’t need it. I loved Zombieland: Double Tap. I thought it was even better than the first one.

If they did, it would have definitely been Norman Reedus and then maybe Jeffrey Dean Morgan or Jon Bernthal.

I enjoyed Double Tap for what it was up until the third act. Felt like they got bored with making the movie at that point and just wanted to get it over with.
