Zombieland To Be Adapted As A TV Series; Original Writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese Attached!

With the The Walking Dead hitting records, it appears now that Fox Broadcasting and Sony Pictures Television want to do their own zombie TV series, with the original idea of Zombieland as a TV series.

It looks like now that The Walking Dead has hit a really high record, another zombie television series is about to come to the TV. The successful 2009 movie, which was written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, was first planed to be a TV show, and now it looks like it will be happening.

Fox Broadcasting and Sony Pictures Television wants the Zombieland TV show to air by 2012-13.

The new Vulture columnist, Gavin Polone, who was producer of the movie, came up with the news, "The original plan for this was to make it as a TV show." CBS ordered back in 2005 a pilot to concept, "but they did what networks do, which is to take all the good stuff out." CBS then gave up and Syfy had interest on it, but it didn't worked out financially, Polone said. There was a serious development on a sequel for the movie, but according to Polone that will be probably on hold: "If the TV show goes, then the sequel won't happen."

Rhett Reese told MTV News last year:

“We always thought [it should be a TV series]. If you watch the movie with that in mind, you will see some remnants of the television show. We have the ‘Zombie Kill of the Week,’ which was always intended to happen every week. The movie ends on a cliffhanger; it doesn’t have a real resolution.”

I'd rather have a sequel than a series that attempted humor during an apocalypse. Season finale's would have some crazy mood whiplash when they had to kill off characters.

I agree make a sequel not a series.
