Hulk in a realistic way should be very interesting, or it could go very wrong, but its del Toro. So far so good.

I love The Hulk...but the character needs movie treatment, and more importantly a movie BUDGET. I dont want a TV series, there are so many other comic book characters who deserve big name and big budget series.

The fact that he keeps saying in interviews that it is influenced by Jeph Loeb's run pretty much confirms Red Hulk will be involved, because that's what his whole run was based on.

Guillermo del Toro is such a great guy! I'm not a huge fan ot the Hulk but I'm really curious what del Toro has in mind, cause it's obviously something fresh and original.

it's called inspiration.
Green Arrow is a ripoff of Robin Hood then?

i heard Carol Danvers was supposed to appear in The Avengers and in the Jessica Jones tv show, so if the actress that plays her is in the movie and show, then it might give us an idea of how much the Movies and tv shows will have to do with each other, and if Ruffalo will be playing as banner in both.

So this hulk is gonna be a stand alone character? I Agree with you Mr. del Toro Jeph Loep rocks!

@MrNoFear

You could say Batman is a "rip off" of the Shadow. Hell, even Shakespeare "ripped off" his plays from pre-established myths and stories. And as a result we got the finest works in English literature! Much like we have from Stan Lee and his great creations.

Credit is due to Jack Kirby too but I just don't think you can blame Lee for being inspired by Jekyll and Hyde.

@MrNoFear Green Lantern (at least, the Golden Age one) is a rip off of Aladin. Green Arrow (as Spidey91 said) is a rip off of Robin Hood, as is Batman's sidekick, also called Robin (strangely enough). Flash is a rip off of the roman god mercury.
Oh, and guess who Thor is a rip off of?
True Story: Most comic book heroes (especially the classic ones) are inspired by either an animal, a scientific concept, or a character from mythology or other stories.

are they going to make it somehow related to the MCU?
AC1
AC1 - 8/1/2011, 3:39 PM
oh yeah and Batman is a rip off of Zorro.

Anyway, yes, Jack Kirby is a legend. But it is an undeniable fact that Stan is also a legend of equal measure.

i just hope this show is connected to the Marvel cinematic universe.
i get how they want this to be a stand alone show for Hulk, but at least just have it in the same universe

I love Stan, but there is no proof that he created ANY of the marvel heroes we know today. In fact he openly admits that "in those days i pretty much left it up to the artist to tell the story while i fill in the dialouge." Stan definately had some input in the creation of these Marvel characters but JACK KIRBY created wht you see today. However without STAN LEE they would never have become this popular.STAN is the great promoter-ALSO,MrNoFear-please go eat another bowl full of cock. MAKE MINE MARVEL!!!!!

damn, i wish the edit button was back, instead of posting 3 comments!

Anyway, this would be so interesting if it were a prequel to the Incredible Hulk movie, ranging from the origin of the experiment that created him (hell, you could even introduce the Hulk right at the end of the first episode as a cliff hanger to the second), how his relationship with Betty soured, the army learning of the Hulk, Thunderbolt Ross being promoted to a US Army General and leader of the Hulkbuster task force, maybe a Tony Stark cameo or two to supply the army with new tech, and the season 1 finale ending with both Betty and her father learning that Banner is Hulk.
Season 2 could then lead to Banner going on the run from the army, establishing contact with Dr Samuel Sterns (aka Mr Blue), Banner fleeing the country, heading to Mexico and other South American countries, til eventually he ends up in Rio de Janeiro and the General first contacts Emil Blonsky, setting up the movie.

It could either end there, or they could spin off to what happens after Incredible Hulk and before Avengers, unless the movie sequel covers that

This sounds very interesting, starting to get excited, how are they going to afford the CGI for a T.V. series? that should be interesting!

i don't comment here much since dc fans aren't really welcomed anymore, but i thought i should support mr. no fear out of empathy since our shared favorite hero was so thoroughly mangled this summer.

he's right, lee is and always was a hack. however, he never pretended to be anything else: his goal was to churn out pulp that kids could relate to, and he did it and did it phenomenally well. and clearly his brand of pulp translates much more smoothly to cinema, too. (i mean, I, OF COURSE could have made a great GL movie, but they never called me back about my script...)

anyway, wasn't the hulk more a rip off of the wolf man, since he changed at night when the moon came out? just sayin.
AC1
AC1 - 8/1/2011, 4:18 PM
@AlternateNo4 I forgot about that, wasn't that the original concept before it was anger that changed him? Anyway, both Stan Lee and Jack Kirby have said in the past he was inspired by many horror monsters: Jeckyll and Hyde for the duality/alter ego theme, Frankenstein visually, so I guess the original moon changing being based on the werewolf makes sense

I just hope they have a long story for this and we don't see him just beating up small time crooks and cheesy villains each episode

The Avengers leaked script from months ago was real. If you look at toy story and serenity scripts in imsdb.com, we see they are very much alike and it is hard to recreate scripts exactly like someone. Spread the word.

With del Toro at the wheel of this show it should be great. Look what he did with the Blade 2 film. I'm a 40 plus year old brutha with no favorite tv show other than Avengers EMH cartoon. I don't frickin watch tv like that but I'm gonna tune in for this new Hulk show. Comicbook and movie nerd Fo-Life Beeyaches! LOL!
