SDCC '11: Guillermo Del Toro Talks Hulk TV Series; Unlikely To Tie-In To Movie Version!

Producer Guillermo Del Toro says that the small screen version of Hulk is unlikely to have any relation the movie version, saying instead that they're looking towards the comics for inspiration, specifically Jeph Loeb's work...

Talking to IGN TV at the San Diego Comic-Con, the producer of the now confirmed Hulk series has revealed where the show is drawing its main source of inspiration from, and seems to confirm that it will in fact have little to do with the Green Goliath we'll see in The Avengers next year. He's also asked about the chances of seeing different coloured Hulks, and while he refuses to give too much away, this definitely seems like it has the potential to be the best of the companies planned television projects.

People are still going to relate the two. It'll be hard not to with them both coming out relatively the same time.

Del Toro is amazing, but I wonder what he can do with a TV budget. That's ok, C work from Del Toro is still better than most.

Seriously how are they going to do this on a TV budget? A muscle bound mountain of a man painted green just ain't gonna cut it...and TV cgi is not on par with movie CGI...

Guess we'll just have to wait and see...

“The Hulk is my generation's Hamlet. We're all gonna get a shot at it." - Mark Ruffalo... Heres hoping we wont be hearing that anymore....

Del Toro, this is why we fanboys love you. You are going to respect the source material, which is the supreme guide for any comic based project.

Ughhh I HATE Jeph Loeb especially his run on the Hulk, I couldn't stand how he just deicded to create probably the least original villain ever with Red Hulk who is also a boring character. I know it sounds like I'm whining and I am but I just hate Loeb!

i'm not to bothered that there is no tie-in to the movie version.

i'm just pleased we've got a hulk tv show just hope the hulk cgi is top notch & doesn't turn out like a reject from smallville.

@N-Hopefully it will be Ruffalo, and maybe a tiny bit about events in the Avengers and then go onto do his own thing. Maybe still running from them.

I t will not be Ruffalo to play the tv Banner. the actor who will portray Banner will be in his mid 20s as what was confirmed when it was announced that there would be a tv hulk in the works.

Del Toro's TV Hulk is not going to be just simply CGI, It will be a combination of CGI< prothetics, and puppetry.

Loeb is Judas in my comic book world. He is the worst writer, who butchered more stories than just Hulk. I hope somebody breaks his fingers so he never writes again. I cannot watch a Loeb inspired television debacle.

So this will be our 4th differant Bruce Banner/Hulk we have seen in the last 8 years!
Why cant they just make a show about a character we havent see in a movie yet?

This is going to be great!

I wonder who could play Bruce Banner?

Kyle Chandler or Ioan Gruffudd maybe?
Chandler looks more like the original take and Ioan is more like the skinny version.
