Conceptual illustrator, Scott Patton, was tasked with the mission to make the failed robots that other countries created in order to compete against Tony Stark and his Iron Man suit. You can see the scene with the international robots in the video below.

Also of interest, are variation of Ivan Vanko's (Mickey Rourke) whips. The original plan was to give Whiplash (Rourke) mini-whips, having his character be cunning, something akin to a James Bond-like role.

Iron Man 2 was directed by Jon Favreau, from a screenplay written by Justin Theroux. The cast included: Robert Downey, Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke. The film was a box office success, earning a total of $624 million worldwide, with a budget of $170–200 million.

Marvel shouldn't have rushed this movie. They really had/have a great cast so this movie should have been better

Iron Man II was a big waste of potential. Here are two things they could have done differently...

1. Allow Whiplash to live. Allowing him to live could have definitely set up a Masters of Evil plot for an Avengers movie. Matter fact, while I liked the Avengers, I think the first movie should have had the Masters of Evil as the villain.

2. Ditch the whole "Iron Man is dying" subplot. Ditching it would have eliminated the need for Nick Fury and Black Widow to take over the movie the way that they did.

I consider IRON MAN 2 to be the weakest link in the MCU...

Am I the only one who thought "THE WHO !" when I saw the second England one ? Yes ? Ohh...

I just watched the hearing scene a couple days ago. Laughed my ass off, this is magic ! Never understood why people were bitching on that movie. Okay, it had giant robots as the treath ONCE AGAIN. Not a big deal.

It was a great movie. Not as good as the first one but still a great movie. I thought it was great till the second act it was really boring until about the 3rd act.

I've said this before, but it bears repeating. Most folks had no expectations for the first Iron Man film. But it turned out to be awesome. The disparity between expectation and reality was ginormous. After IM, people had high expectations for IM 2.

To use numbers, let's say people's expectations for IM were about -2 to 2 and it turned out to be like an 8 or a 9 (figuratively speaking, don't go all hibidy gibbidy about "it was a 7 at best" or whatever). Anyways, after that, people were expecting IM 2 to be at an 8 or greater. But Iron Man 2 was like a 7. So it wasn't a bad film, it just didn't meet the same level as IM. But honestly, there's no way they could have met that. So overall, I think the movie was fine. The end was a little abrupt, but I still liked it.
