Jon Favreau Talks IMAX 3D For The Avengers And Iron Man 3!

But what about Iron Man 2?

When asked if Iron Man 2 has any IMAX footage in it Jon Favreau told MTV News “IMAX is also very compelling,” Favreau revealed to MTV over the weekend at Comic-Con, saying there’s a good chance that “Iron Man 2” will be released on IMAX screens much like “The Dark Knight” before it. “I like the idea of either shooting in the IMAX format, or blowing it up to IMAX.”

Favs also spoke about getting either The Avengers or Iron Man 3 in IMAX 3-D

I really hope this happens. The technology now days has only gotten better and by the time the above mentioned movies come out the tech will probably be flawless. Again to all you ComicBookMovie fans that don't believe the hype about IMAX and or 3-D, you will. The experience is totally different then a normal size theater. Imagine watching Iron Man fly up to a full scale version of Fing Fang Foom. What!! Are you kidding me. Don't knock it before you try it.

3-D just kind of ruins movies for me. I would not be happy about THE AVENGERS....IN 3-D!

It could be cool. Given the choice I would take HD over 3-D

As I said in another post,"Anyone who saw Up should know that 3-D can be used as more than a gimmick. I don't remember seeing a single object fly at my face. It was more like looking into a window, with the 3-D having depth. I saw a character walk from the background to the foreground and actually looked like they were moving through a space. It was about as perfect as I can imagine. If they want to do Marvel movies this way, I'm all for it! Now all they have to do is work on the ticket price... "

GUNSMITH@ they dont use the red and blue glasses anymore. some are more like sunglasses and others have thick lenses. Its a totally new and better method.

Stick with IMAX. 3D Avengers/Iron Man wouldn't be that great. I hate the glasses as well.

The more I think about it. The better it sounds. Imagine Iron man looking like he is flying above the theater crowd. or one Of thors lighting bolts coming at you. Maybe it will look like the hulk throws a car into the crowd. That would be pretty sweet

3D movies are fun, but thats as far as it goes for me. I wouldn't want Iron man 3D because it would be okay in theaters, it would suck on DVD. Imax is okay though.

For those that doubt the new 3D tech... I go to the theater to see a movie just cause it is in 3D now, not joking. The red/blue glass' from the 80's and 90's are not what you use to view these movies. Instead, you are given Dolby digital plastic specs with clear lenses. No more are the gimmicks of throwing things out of the screen at you for jumper moments. Someone above described it as "...looking thorough a window..." and that person nailed it. You literally see measurable depth in everything. You can properly gauge that a tree in the background is approximately 22 feet behind the character in the foreground, it is utterly amazing. If you haven't gone to see a 3D movie yet, you have no clue what your missing.

Bmanhall: that used to be the case... but it isn't anymore, trust me dude. I saw My Bloody Valentine, Coraline, and Up! and they right up there with 300 in terms of some of the best theater going experiences I've ever had! I really cannot put it into words concisely enough to convince you, other than to say just go and see one.

Just picture Iron Man flying right into your face. 3-D Iron Man 3 or the Avengers (both would be nice), would just be AMAZING. Also if they film it in IMAX, then that would be also AMAZING.

OMG WHATS UP! I loved how you had a 'Tab' system on this site, one of the good things this site had in its set up was being able to hit the tabs to change over. Now it takes me to a new page, this is horrible change! Please change it back.

YESS!!!

3D is the future...just like Jman said above, if you haven't experienced it, or IMAX, you can't knock it til you try it...it truely is an entirely different way to view movies...

With the way Fav has handled the now FRANCHISE that is Iron Man, I think he will PUSH for upcoming movies to be in 3D and/or IMAX

I always see every comic book movie that comes to the IMAX theater at the IMAX theater whether it's 3D or not.

It's just a ritual. First night, first showing @ the IMAX.

It's just cool and extra monumental seeing a movie on a screen that's taller than my house.

Fing Fang Foom? yeah, I don't think he'll be in any of the Iron man movies anytime soon. Or ever. Not "realistic" enough.
And peraonally, Imax is great and all, but not totally worth the extra-expensive ticket.
And 3D is just too gimmicky. It's fine for movies that are meant to be gimmicky, but keep it away from Iron Man and the Avengers. please.
