Hello All! I shall jump right into what I want to say about Iron Man 3. The whole twist with the Mandarin disappointed many fans. People expected Ben Kingsley to be the perfect guy for the Mandarin but instead we got a goofy British actor named Trevor. But what If Marvel still has another twist? What if Ben Kingsley still is the Mandarin! Let me Explain, Iron Man 1 showed that Ten Rings Terrorist Group existed. In Iron Man 3, Tony didn’t even know that the guys who kidnapped him in the first movie were connected with the Mandarin. So that’s just it? Tony with the help of his friends just kills Aldrich Killian who says he’s the “real Mandarin” and the Ten Rings Terrorist group and A.I.M are just calm about this?

The Extremis soldiers were shown to come back to life during the movie, so one shot with a repulsor and getting knocked into some rubble wouldn’t kill Aldrich Killian. I see it as this Friday for the U.S release of Iron Man 3 is going to have another Mid or After credit scene that goes slightly something like this:
“Aldrich Killian is shown damaged from the fight with Iron Man walking into a temple type setting.
Someone off screen speaks to Aldrich: You are a humiliation… you fail to annihilate Tony Stark and make me look like a fool.
Aldrich Killian: Forgive me sir, but Project Extremis works! I had Stark right where I wanted him and-
Off Screen Person: You failed. Your pathetic form of technology was years wasted and now it is up to me to bring forth retaliation for the Ten Rings Terrorist Group… (Camera reveals that it is Ben Kingsley Portraying the real Mandarin) and they’ll never see me coming…”

Scene ends and fans go crazy!

Yeah, this is how I see Marvel doing it, as a surprise post credit scene, what do think?

Please Sound Off Below!

P.S,
For everyone who is worried about if Iron Man will not be in the Avengers 2,
If you remember the last scene in Iron Man 3, He said “It’s one thing that you can’t take away… I am Iron Man.” I think that’s enough proof that he’s coming back in the Avengers 2 :)!

In my opinion, the article could be a little less fanfic-y (not sure what I mean with that) but you've got a good idea here!

There was nothing wrong with the twist in my opinion. It added more to the movie. And honestly, the only people who will be mad at the twist are the hardcore comicbook fans. The general audience wil find it funny and love it. So majority of the people who will see this movie will like, so Iron Man 3 succeeded in making a good movie.

I liked the movie.Though hardcore purist fanboys might be the only people who might have a problem with it.

The mandarin got butchered. Other than that its really good. But the twist did not enhance story it butchered an iconic character. If you can get past that then you wil have a very enjoyable experience.

I love this theory as it brings back both Killian and The actual mandarin. The plastic surgery must have been a hint that they tried to get Trevor to look like the actual Mandarin. In fact Tony even asks if he is a decoy possibly foreshawdowing. Has this after credit scene been confirmed though. I believed there would only be one or something to do with the guardians of the galaxy.

they could do it like saddam husein he had a load decoy/lookalikes.

they do need to sort this out or release a directors cut that has the trevor scene completely removed & the mandarin is the villain right up to the very end.

When the Mandarin said "you'll never see me coming" he was absolutely right. Nobody saw that twist coming.

I'm not a crazy Iron Fan, but have enjoyed the movies, and in all honesty I didn't like the twist, despite the fact I did like the idea of creating a false terrorist threat, but as you mention, the ten rings terror group exists and now doesn't see to be any mention of them. I thought the Mandarin would have been the one pulling the strings when Tony was captured in the first movie.

I was actually waiting for the double twist, Madarin knew Tony was there so acted like a muppet to avoid being killed.

Overall I felt this one was a bit messy, it was still a good movie with some fantastic set pieces, but the MK42 became a bit to comedic, and couldn't get past a wooden door, but can lift Tony from out of rubble, and still on the fence about the kid sidekick.

I also hope there is another credits scene as the one with Stark talking to Banner was probably the worst they have ever done...it did 't need to show the GoTG, but build to something like the phase ones did.

Sounds like I am laying into the film, overall it is a good movie, but, and again my opinion, not one of the strongest Marvel movies.

Oh the plastic surgery line does seem to indicate he was made to look like someone.

@Teabag kinda right, but it isn't Killian that wanted Tony at first it was his lab assistant, who he later shoots that convinces him about his need for Tony, and how to give him a incentive to work.

I do think you are right that the Mandarin in this movie was based on one who will eventually become Tony's arch nemesis.

Well, "Tony Stark will return" Is shown after the post-credit scene so it's a safe bet that he'll be back...

I like the twist. I do think that Killian is alive, though, and would like to see him adopt a more Mandarin-esque look for the Avengers 2 (as the leader of the Masters of Evil, of course).

I really enjoyed the twist in the movie. The real important part of the twist is that Killian IS the Mandarin and not so much that Trevor isn't.

Everything Killian does, is manipulation of people and media, his approach to causing acute hurt and embarrassment to the USA and the President, his intellect, his subversion of symbols and iconography, even the tattoos on his chest all scream Mandarin. The fact he doesn't have some facial hair and a Kimono doesn't mean he isn't the Mandarin.

@Teabag

I hear what ya saying about 'curing his obsession' but I still think in the characters mind he has 'retired'.

I've been thinking the same thing and I dont know how people would feel about this idea I've been having, but here it is:

What if The whole time The Ten Rings organazation had no idea that The Mamdarin was an actor, that they thought he was their true leader all along. After Killian dies the organazation look to " actor Mandarin " as to what to do next. Seeing as how he was hired and basically bought with drugs and some sense of power, right then and there he decides why not continue the ruse, now he can have anything he wants and with all the power of The Ten Rings group backing him up he is now untouchable. He truly takes up the mantle of The Mandarin and assumes leadership and continues on with any terrorist work the group does, leaving him and the group open to return later.

Whats does everybody think??

I was starting to think I was the only one who picked up on the plastic surgery bit. I do like your theory though. Id be surprised theyd do something so vital to the story for only one country though.

If you watch this movie as a normal movie watcher, you will enjoy it!! Great humor, story, pace, performance, RDJ and etc. Now here is the thing, if you are a hardcore comic book fan, you might end up getting disappointed. Every director is trying to do a Chris Nolan, which is not required in every movie because it gets silly after a while.
You can't disrespect a villain's mythology the way these guy's did in IM 3. I mean for Christ's sake he was supposed to be Mandarin not some C grade Villain. Like what Lex Luthor is to Superman and the Joker is to Batman same way Mandarin is to Iron Man.
I don't mean to disrespect any fan's sentiments, but that is what I felt. It's just that as a comic book and an Iron Man fan I was hoping to see an epic stand-off between Iron Man and the Mandarin. Other than that it was a good movie, it showed the strong character of Tony Stark and proved that it isn't the suit that makes the man but the man inside the suit!!

im not optimistic that your prediction will come true. but i do like it and i think something should be done to reverse it.

i was so hoping to have the mandarin in a movie and instead we get some actor.

I just don't understand why everyone involved from day one thought this was necessary. Do they think the mandarin can't be taken seriously? the same people who are swearing by rocket raccoon as the heart and soul of Marvel's next great franchise? What are they going to do, make rocket a figment of star-lords imagination? "when he was a young man Peter Quill accidentally ran over a raccoon with his bicycle. he was so sad he fled into space..." ??

a gun toting muppet is cool but no one can buy into a pseudo-asain terrorist with magic rings??

:(

What happened to half the mandarin quotes from the trailer? "Do you want an empty life, or a meaningless death" or "heroes, there is no such thing"

I just saw the movie today and i was kind of dissapointed by the mandarin twist because i've been excited to see ben kingsley portrays this character as a bad ass, a ruthless terrorist. But i hope your right. And in the u.k edition it ays Tony stark will return in the end credits.
