With Shazam! set to blast into theaters on Friday, Warner Bros. has chosen now to release the first trailer for Joker. Needless to say, it looks very different to what most of us expected, and it's a safe bet that this version of the Clown Prince of Crime is going to have a haunting - and possibly even terrifying - origin.

An R-Rating seems almost inevitable at this point, and Joaquin Phoenix is clearly giving it his all here - something which leads us to wonder whether it's possible that Joker could follow Black Panther and receive some serious awards attention next year (for its lead star, if nothing else). Either way, we're now taking a closer look at the footage with nearly 80 hi-res screenshots.

There are a lot of great moments in the sneak peek, including a pretty detailed look at how Arthur Fleck transforms into The Joker.

So, to check out all of that and every other key scene in this first official footage from the highly anticipated DC Comics adaptation, all you have to do is click on the "View List" button down below.

As much as people may snicker, we need this kind of tonal variety in CBM's for them to thrive. As much fun as the Marvel movies are, it's a nice change of pace to have a director driven one off films like this, even if it isn't necessarily comic accurate or "necessary"

Perfect! I have to tattoo a portrait sleeve of all the Joker actors. I see a couple of worthy images to use here.

I find it very interesting that the trailer starts with "Arthur" being interviewed at Arkham I'd assume and then different origins play out throughout the trailer. The movie's definitely an original take on The Killing Joke in the tone of Scorsese films and that's what I love about it.

@E4Nigma - Yeah, I think the name Arthur Fleck kinda gives that away. Almost like he's breaking the 4th wall to prank the audience.
