JONAH HEX the scarred up badass bounty hunter of the old west comes a blazing into theaters this Friday.

For those of you that don't follow the box office: This summer has been a down year compared to last year's record breaking summer. Specifically down this year are the comic book movies' box office. KICK-ASS and THE LOSERS both underperformed, even IRON MAN 2 is a bit of a disapointment-- currently at $299 milion at the US box office, it might not out gross the original that made $318,412,101.

JONAH HEX is not exactly a well known property. In case you didn't know about its coming out, don't blame yourself, Warner Brothers has horribly marketed the film since the first trailer was only released seven weeks ago. The good news is, according to a critic friend of mine who saw a press screening, it was a fun action packed movie and Brolin was awesome. The bad news though is that it has to go against TOY STORY 3 which opens in more theaters. We all know that everyone's going go see it over JONAH HEX. The really bad news is that the movie tracking badly, what that means is that the averavge American has no idea the movie's even coming out.

All in all this pretty much means that, unless by the the grace of god, this movie probably won't make back its budget, which means no sequel for it and probably no more obscure comic book movies.

The film stars Academy Award® nominee Josh Brolin (“Milk,” “No Country For Old Men”), two-time Academy Award® nominee John Malkovich (“In the Line of Fire,” “Places in the Heart”), Megan Fox (“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”), Michael Fassbender (“Inglourious Basterds”), Will Arnett (“Blades of Glory”) and Academy Award® nominee Michael Shannon (“Revolutionary Road.”).

Jonah Hex is in theaters June 18, 2010

I Hope it Does well. I'm going to see it the Day it Comes out, I can't wait for this movie! I'd go see anything put out by DC. (Honestly I'd see anything by Marvel too, but maybe not opening day, lol)

Warner Bros. made a stupid decision one, for releasing this the same day as Toy Story 3 and two, marketing it horribly. This movie could have done really well if it opened earlier but I don't know. I for one am seeing Toy Story 3 at midnight when it comes out and will probably see Jonah Hex Sunday.

It won't make back what it cost. Why? Two words, "NO ADVERTISEMENT"

when the the guys who did the soundtrack say the film is not ready for release...THATS A BAD SIGN!!!!....theres NOOOOOOOOOO advertisement or ANY marketing campaign for tis film...any TV spots they simply showing off Megan Sux. It looks like Wild Wild West 2...the characterization is butchered, the make up looks stupid, the one liners in the trailers were GOD AWFUL, the acting looks cheap, the action has WAY too many explosions and its not a Bay film. At least they didn't convert it into crappy 3D....I feel so bad for this film...this was a character that had TONS of potential for making such a great, dark, and gritty western like the old days. This film will barely make its money back here or overseas...and as we know if it fails here, then it fails everywhere...well say good bye to the obscure comic character movies

Well it won't be The Dark Knight or Iron Man. But I think it will be a good movie. I agree that releasing it the same day as toy story 3 was a BIG Mistake and they should have advertised it WAY more! Typically westerns don't blow up in the box office, and since JH is not a mainstream character that goes against it too. I think it will do ok in the box office. Will it be a Block Buster? Probably not. But I think it will do alright.

@josh....3:10 to Yuma was a big hit in the B.O, its just that westerns today are really down played

@BlackAirs that’s true, that’s why I said "Typically", lol.
I'm all for this movie, I’m just looking at it realistically. It more than likely will not be a BIG Box Office Hit. I would like it to be, but more than likely it will not. Like I said earlier, I'm going to see it on opening day.

the previews looks God Awful!!! This is a fail in the making. Will it make it's money back. Prob once the DVD sales come in in about 12 months, after it's on sale at Walmart on the $9.99 rack. Even and that point, their prob going to be lucky if they break even. Sorry, I'm not usually this negative, but this film looks lame ...

@ all of those who hope this movie will succeed - I hope your right. Again, I'm not usually the negative type. It's just that this movie has zero appeal to me and my group of CBGeek friends. But the proof is in the pudding. I guess this question will soon be answered.

Oh, and I found the brain I was looking for!!!!

I love DC but this movie should not come out, i mean before wonder woman and the flash? really .. i think we should boycott any b- rated superheroes movies that dc release.... its time fore them to start making movies that the fans want not what they think is easy to make.

@jrocka by boycotting ANY DC Movie release we hurt the chances of future (non-Batman/Superman) Movies Being Released. I think we should support DC in this. Just My Opinion :)
