JUDGE DREDD: MEGA-CITY ONE Producer Says They're Writing An Engaging First Season; Confirms Karl Urban Talks
Karl Urban has said that he is in talks to put on the helmet for Judge Dredd: Mega-City One, something series producer, Jason Kingsley, confirmed while also speaking about writing the first season.
The pieces seem to be falling in place to get Karl Urban back as Judge Dredd one more time. Yesterday, the actor announced his on-going discussions to play the character again, and today Judge Dredd: Mega-City One producer, Jason Kingsley, confirmed that they've been talking to Urban.
Speaking with Screen Geek Kingsley said, “We have been in discussions with Karl about his possible involvement in Judge Dredd: Mega-City One for some time. These conversations continue but we’re keen, he’s keen, it’s just a case of us making sure this show is everything we want it to be."
Kingsley then went on to talk about making sure they get the show right, and said they're currently laying out the plans for season one of the show. "This needs to be done right, the fans deserve it," He said. "Our team is working hard on scripts for the first season, creating engaging multi-thread storylines, one of which will be Dredd’s but others which take us into the wider world of Mega-City One.”
Urban first played Judge Dredd in the 2012 film, Dredd. The series was announced back in may, and it's been rumored that Netflix, Amazon and HBO are interested in producing the show. As of right now, there is no release date.
