Karl Urban Reveals What He Would Like To See In A DREDD Sequel And More

After the abysmal 1995 film which starred Sylvester Stallone as the iconic 2000AD character, Judge Dredd is finally getting another shot at big screen glory with Pete Travis' DREDD. After a screening at the San Diego Comic-Con last month, the reaction to the remake has been a positive one from fans and critics alike. With Karl Urban (Star Trek) in the leading role, and the promise that he won’t take the helmet off, this might just be the film that fans have been waiting for. Screenwriter Alex Garland has already revealed that he has ideas for two more films, so its fate now lies at the box office. In the following video interview with IGN Movies, the actor shares his thoughts on whether or not we'll see a follow-up to the movie and what he'd like to see them include. Don't forget that you can read my (spoiler-free) 5* review of DREDD 3D by clicking HERE.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson, a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan's inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound's control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

Dredd looks awesome! I'm glad Peter Travis, and Alex Garlans decided to let Karl Urban keep the helmet on in the movie. It makes Dredd look more intimidating.

i always liked the idea that as a cadet judge he was unpopular and other judge cadets glued the helmet to his head and thus it remains:)
cursed earth , angel gang are a must but also would be the 4 undead judges with anderson doing her PSI work its the only reason PSI judges dont need helmets:)

Great movie, really enjoyed it. Good job Urban! Love to see a trilogy and a bigger dredd world.

One of my favourite films this year! A real throw back to 80s Action films... Not to mean it's brutal as hell.
