Guillermo Del Torro Gives Update On JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK

Gregg Miller posed the question "Would you  ever do "Justice League Dark" on TV or Netflix?".

"Right now the plans are to make it a feature. We are deep in the screenplay writing phase. I think we see eye to eye (Warners and DC and myself) on what the movie is and I think it will serve really well as a movie."

He went on to praise the characters and express how much joy he is having with the characters such as Constantine and Swamp-Thing. When asked about the TV universe and Constantine, he went on to say...

"The ideal form is to develop the movie. The only thing I made clear to them (the Constantine TV show) is that the TV series will not affect the movie and they said that's okay. Now if we see the TV series and we can mesh with it or cast the same actor depending on where the movie is going then I would be happy to consider (meshing with the show)."

He then went on to say...

"We came in and I tried 2 or 3 different structures for the screenplay. I wrote a 75 page template for the universe... that takes a year... We needed to create a new story. Then we need to go to a screenplay writer. One draft takes between 6 and 8 months. It really takes a while."

Well though it seems fairly far away, it does look like they're getting a decent amount of traction on it. Hopefully he'll be able to get on it in the near future.

I wish DC would confirm some of these movies. All the other studios are grabbing release dates and green lighting movies at a fever pitch, and WB stays mum. I understand Green Lantern flopping is making them cautious, but CBMs are huge right now, jump in. Would love to see a JL Dark film by del Toro. Will be interesting to see how deep into the mythos the Constantine series goes. Already saw Dr Fate's helmet. Now mentioning Swampy at Con with promotional phone number. Del Toro better hurry up before his movie is old news.

It doesn't take that long. He's exaggerating. It's just taking him this long cause he, like G.R.R. Martin, has a million projects going on at the same time so he can't focus and get 1 thing done, he ends up working on everything in pieces and that ultimately pushes the release of all the projects back indefinitely. Chris Evans is having issues finishing up his film with Alice Eve due to scheduling conflicts with Marvel as well. It's common. That's why I have little to no respect for Martin and Del Toro. They promise one thing, then take on something else and never finish their original whatever-the-[frick]. Set your mind to one thing and [frick]ing make good on it for God sakes.

It would make a lot of sense to put the tv Constantine in the movie. Especially after finding out, what writers and producers are behind the show

I love all these characters individually, and I'm even a huge Peter Milligan fan, but I loathe the Justice League Dark comic. Hopefully Guillermo can do his own thing and not base it on the comic's plot, which I find to be rambling disconnected nonsense that only exists to give popular characters cameo appearances.

Glad to hear that everyone is on the same page for this project. JL Dark will he amazing, just because it will be based on actual MAGIC due to the characters involved in the comic. I say this because I read that Marvel's Doctor Strange will not be based on actual magic, but on some high tech Quantum manipulation crap. Why Marvel is going that route is beyond me, but if Kevin F. says so, so let it be done.
Mothchild

Great.

I hope Etrigan, Xanadu, Deadman, Dr. Fate and Swamp Thing are all included.

I'm kinda hoping they rebrand it though. This could be a good opportunity to diversify some of the DC comic book team names. These guys wouldn't call themselves the JL Dark anyway.

I think Marvel announcing all these dates is kinda stupid, I believe they are just setting themselves up for a fall. I like that DC isn't announcing all their movies, it seems that they are vested in making a great productm
