Recently, Wonder Woman star David Thewlis took to Instagram to share a still from Zack Snyder's Justice League, seemingly questioning how and why his character, Ares, had been added to the movie.
Well, it turns out he was just having fun with his followers (and that his face wasn't added to those flashbacks without his permission). As you can see below, the actor was actually on set very briefly to shoot a handful of scenes before his body was replaced with stuntman Nick McKinless.
"I am wearing a motion capture suit, about to shoot scenes for Justice League. That is a bald cap. That beard is glued on. They stuck my head on the body of a gentleman with a gym membership. I understood very well that would be the case, that’s why I’m wearing the suit. I put on a horned helmet and struck a sandbag with an axe several times. Then I had a Scotch egg for lunch."
It's unclear whether these scenes were shot when Justice League was originally in production or during last year's reshoots, but it is good to know that Thewlis really was on set for this sequence.
