With it now clear that Warner Bros. has no plans to #RestoreTheSnyderVerse, some fans have started campaigning for the studio to #SellSnyderVerseToNetflix.
It's an idea that makes absolutely no sense, but Zack Snyder loyalists are hoping a rival streaming service can take those DC characters and make a competing series of Justice League movies, fulfilling the filmmaker's vision. It's a nice thought but, again, not something we'll ever see happen.
During a recent interview, Snyder was asked for his thoughts on the campaign and responded with a shrug. He then added, "[What’s] probably amazing to learn is that my influence over those things is very small."
The director elaborated on that by saying, "The truth is, I mean, it would be amazing if...whatever control over the IP that exists, I don’t...that’s not my part, that’s not my role. That’s, as they say, above my pay grade."
Clearly choosing his words carefully, Snyder would go on to praise the current Warner Bros. regime for allowing his upcoming "Full Circle" event to take place. As we've previously noted, there has been rumbling that it's meant to serve as a passing of the torch as the filmmaker leaves the DCEU behind to focus on Rebel Moon for, ironically, Netflix.
"Warner Bros., as far as this screening/event is concerned, have been incredible. This group is now beyond, beyond kind, and caring, and personal, and it’s been amazing working with them, so I have no complaints. Beyond that, as far as the creative goes and what they’re planning, I have honestly been busy shooting this movie. I have no idea what they’re up to."
That debunks claims he's being eyed to take part in the new DCU, though Snyder would later point out that DC Studios boss James Gunn is a "buddy" after they worked on Dawn of the Dead together.
