There have been dozens of Justice League fancasts put out on this site since the rumor/announcement that Warner Bros. and DC plan on making a JL film sometime after the Superman/Batman movie. I've tried to stay away from making one because I didn't want to put one out with the usual Ryan Gosling, Bradly Cooper, formula most follow. But I think I've created a fairly original one that makes sense for WB and DC.
My main focus with it was to choose actors that not only resemble the character and could act, but actors that were all on the same level in terms of familiarity. Meaning I didn't want 2 unknown actors and 3 known actors. Or a Flash actor that was more well known that the Batman actor. I think these actors are for the most part known actors that people would recognize but wouldn't get pulled out of the movie and say "Hey! There's George Clooney dressed up as Batman." I think all of these actors could pull off their respected characters and that they could take the JL role and launch a pretty successful career from it, similar to what it looks like Man of Steel is doing for Henry Cavill.
So without further ado...The Justice League
Henry Cavill-Superman
Whether you liked Man of Steel or not, I think it's safe to say that Henry Cavill is the Superman for a new generation. And it is also clear that Man of Steel is the first step in creating a DCCU.
Gabriel Macht-Batman
Garbriel Macht's current gig is on USA's Suits, and I think anyone can watch him on that show and get a sense of Bruce Wayne. He stand at 6 feet tall, plenty big enough to come across as a stong, powerful, and intimidating Batman, but not so big that he trumps Cavill's Superman. I wouldn't say he's a physical actor, but he has had roles in movies such as Behind Enemy Lines and The Recruit, both roles required some sort of athleticism. With the proper training, I think he could pull of the action of Batman just fine.
Alexa Davalos-Wonder Woman
Alexa Davalos is another actress who I think most people would recognize but wouldn't necessarily know where they saw her from. She was in Clash of the Titans as Andromeda, and her role in that movie alone made me think she could play Wonder Woman. She is 5'8" give or take an inch or two, either way a decent amount taller than the average woman her age. She has a fierceness to her that Wonder Woman needs and like Macht, I feel like with the proper training she could develop the body and fighting skills necessary to play Wonder Woman.
Idris Elba- Green Lantern (John Stewart)
Idris Elba may be the only unoriginal pick in this fancast, but I think the reason he is such a popular choice for John Stewart is because he's the perfect pick. He also may not fit my criteria of being unknown, but I don't think his star is big enough yet that he would overshadow any of the other actors. I think Elba definitely has the acting chops and the physical ability of tough John Stewart.
Now on the subject of Green Lantern, my decision to choose a new GL partially came from an editorial by LEVITIKUZ about his idea of how to 'requel' the GL series in the Justice League film. He proposes to not disassociate from the Ryan Reynolds film but to kind of introduce John Stewart as the new Green Lantern and pass the torch to him for future Green Lantern outings. I think this is a smart way to keep continuity and not confuse the audience.
Scott Porter- The Flash
I have to admit that I'm not too familiar with The Flash or Barry Allen for that matter. My only real exposure to the character is from Justice League: The New Frontier. With that being said, I've seen Scott Porter in every episode he was in of the Friday Night Lights tv series. And I think he has the capability of showing both Barry Allen's hesitance and timidness from The New Frontier and his heroics. I also think he can come across as a smart, calculating forensic scientist that Barry Allen is.
There you have it, another Justice League fancast. But one that I think is financially and strategically smart for Warner Bros. and DC.
