While Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was far from a flop, it definitely underperformed and the critical response, in particular, left Warner Bros. reevaluating its plans for the Justice League franchise. For starters, it went from being a two-part movie to one that's standalone and even Flashpoint reportedly hinges on how well the superhero ensemble performs when it's released later this month!
At a recent press conference for Justice League, producer Charles Roven was asked what he wants people to take away from the movie and he quickly replied, "I want them to want to see Justice League 2!" He's clearly optimistic about it happening then but neither he nor Deborah Snyder were willing to elaborate on where a follow-up could go or even where things stand with a Justice League 2.
"I think we’ll open the movie and see where we go from there," Snyder added, making it clear that Warner Bros. is taking a wait and see approach to the franchise as opposed to being confident enough in Justice League to immediately start working on the sequel (which is unlikely to be directed by Zack Snyder regardless based on recent comments from the filmmaker). What do you think comes next?
