With DC's soft reboot of their brand some of their titles have really shined and Justice League is definitely one of them. So if you are looking for an exciting tale to introduce yourself into the New 52 DC universe Justice League Origin by Geoff Johns, art by Jim Lee is a great book.
As the name implies this is the story of how the Justice League came together for the first time. This new Justice League consists of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Flash (Barry Allen), Aquaman, and a more interesting addition Cyborg. This Justice League of course has the classic members but the addition of Cyborg as a founding member is very interesting. While I enjoy how Johns is writing him I am a little disappointed that we won't be seeing him in any Teen Titans books anytime soon.
Either way this book was a great read, another thing I really enjoyed was the logical flow that brought the heroes together. It wasn't some big coincidence, GL going to Gotham and meeting Batman made sense in context. I think almost any reader will enjoy this book as long as they give it a chance, it has all the DC big names, a big time villain, and some nice human elements. I especially enjoyed the humorous dialogue between GL and Batman.
Other than this Geoff Johns has written some of my favorite books in the last few years and he and his writing has really risen to the top, so almost anything by him is pretty much a must read. Also DC recently released an animated movie version of this story: Justice League War. The producers made some changes as one would expect and I think the movie lost a little something because of it. I didn't like anything that either Superman or Wonder Woman said and they dropped Aquaman for Shazam. But they did keep the good dialogue between GL and Batman so I did enjoy that. All and all I enjoyed the book far more than the movie.
I'd give this book a Must Read rating for a fledgling comic book reader.
Thanks for taking the time to consider my thoughts-
