Kiersey Clemons Talks JUSTICE LEAGUE Reshoots And FLASHPOINT's Delay

Kiersey Clemons talks here about whether or not she's been involved in Joss Whedon's extensive Justice League reshoots and when she hopes to start working on the Scarlet Speedster's solo movie, Flashpoint.

Joss Whedon has been at the helm of extensive Justice League reshoots, something which has probably included removing the scenes featuring Billy Crudup as the Flash's father, Henry Allen (due to him deciding to leave the DC Extended Universe earlier this year). Iris West, however, hasn't been recast but during a new interview, Kiersey Clemons confirmed that she's not been part of reshoots.

"I finished all my stuff with Zack [Snyder], I wish him well and I have no idea what’s going on right now but I’m sure whatever they’re doing is necessary," she revealed before adding: "I know the parts that I did
introducing Iris are f*cking sick. I can’t wait to see the movie. I’m so happy that I’ve been introduced to this genre because I didn’t really have any type of desire to be a part of any superhero world. And then I stepped on the set of 'Justice League' and I was like, 'Holy sh*t. Alright!'"

It sounds like Snyder has dreamed up a very imaginative and cool introduction for Iris West before she takes on a key role in the upcoming Flashpoint movie and Clemons went on to address where things stand with the long delayed DC Comics adaptation and her hopes that it will start shooting next year.

"I’m gonna finish up the year, and then by January if we aren’t gonna go on The Flash I will probably get back to writing and then take a little break." It doesn't sound like she's heard anything definite then so hopefully Warner Bros. will get its act together and find a director who won't leave the project due to creative differences! Are you guys excited to see Clemons appear as Iris West in Justice League

@HubbleFunk - as far as I remember even this site reported that Crudup didn't leave Flash, but I guess it's ok to write false news...

Hopefully with the Flash films delay she won't have to leave the role due to scheduling conflicts like Billy Crudup.

About all those blackwashing comments and the fight with that nemesis17 guy (who is simply a racist, no need to be Batman to unravel that mystery), it's a fact that both Marvel and DC have changed the ethnicity of quite a few characters these past few years, especially on the big and small screens but also in comics. It's also a fact that society has evolved since those characters were created, and that today's comics have to emulate and represent today's society. Marvel wasn't gonna make Cap black when african-americans didn't even have the right to vote, stand with white people in a bus, at school, and even less join the Air Force or the Marines.

I say bring in everything and everyone, as long as it serves the characters and the story, and not just a statistical imperative an executive is imposing on his creative teams. In that case, it is a calculated marketing move, just so the studio can look open-minded, edgy and cool. They're not doing it because they believe it's important to represent a minority and be progressist and fair, but because they're trying to sell them comics or movie tickets. Because they're trying to look better. It's a start, but it's still fake.

Also, what studios are often doing, is rebranding a preexisting and established character, instead of creating a new one. Often, it makes no sense whatsoever because it's never explained, and it's a cheap move, because it's easy, and because it almost always concerns secondary characters. And when it doesn't, fans are bound to be at least disappointed, especially if their favorite character is well established and has been around for decades. It's not that it's bad to change such a character, it's that it's unnecessary. Why change something when you could create something new?

I'm all for a comic industry that represents today's society, but I want studios to create new stories and new characters, not rebrand old ones to make themselves look trendy. Marvel knows how to do it properly as shown by Miles Morales, America Chavez or Kamala Khan, DC knows how to do it properly, as shown by Simon Baz, Kate Kane or Aqualad, but more often than not, they just change something that's already there. It's not wrong, it's just lazy.

I would be excited if @JoshWilding would stop contributing articles to this site, since most of the stories he submits are biased, inaccurate or misleading!!

Iris is a good example of changing a characters race and actually having it make te character not only more defined and interesting, but allowing for the potential for an interesting dynamic with the interracial relationship between Barry and her. I think making Aquaman Polynesian is a good example as well and black Wally West is something that has a lot of potential if done carefully. Imagine a world where Wally (black wally) takes over for Barry as the main Flash in a film continuity, like he has in the past in the comics and it just allows for a slightly different approach to that hero after the main character has been sunsetted in that world. I'd love to see the blue-lightning new 52 future barry design as Wally in the future when he becomes a main member of the JL

If DC/Warner was smart they would use Flashpoint in a very smart creative way. They could introduce multiple story lines with the same characters and use different actors and release multiple movies every year by taking advantage of introducing the Multiverse.

@theredmeadow - They would also release the film after The Batman and Man of Steel have their trilogies, or at least emphasize that it takes place after they have their trilogies. I still think doing Flashpoint this early is a terrible idea.

Wonder how much she and the shaping cast of the Flash movie will have to wait to shoot their film.

And TV Iris isn't annoying, she's a solid well written supportive character. Those just talking down on her are just reeking insecurity.

I'm really excited to see her take on the role of Iris. She has a chance to be much more fleshed out and not as "damsel in distress" as Candice Patton's Iris has been thus far on the TV show (not that she has been bad, by any means).

When the Flash movie finally happens, I have no doubt that Kiersey will kill it. She was great in Dope.

Now, lets get this movie a director!
