JUSTICE LEAGUE Cast Discuss How They Learned Zack Snyder Was Moving On And Joss Whedon's Direction

Pretty much the entire cast of Justice League talks here about Zack Snyder's departure from the movie and how significantly things have changed since Joss Whedon took over as the ensemble's director.

As you know, Zack Snyder passed the helm of Justice League over to Joss Whedon following the tragic death of his daughter earlier this year. The Avengers director had already been hired to pen the movie's reshoots but he took over the filming of those and the post-production process. How much did that change the movie we're going to get this November? A fair bit but not as much as you might think.

When Empire Magazine asked Ben Affleck about the changes which have been made since Whedon was hired, the actor revealed that we're not going to end up with DC's version of The Avengers

"I didn't sense that we were moving towards something that felt like The Avengers. Joss is more than just an Avengers director. He's a good storyteller, full stop. In mid-stream, Joss got on and part of what interested him was the puzzle aspect of it, fitting in pieces that weren't there yet. He put the rest of the pieces in and gave it his own imprimatur. Joss came in and walked a very fine line between Zack's sensibility, tone, and direction. We found a really fun and inspiring synthesis of their two forms of storytelling. I was so glad everyone showed up to work for Zack."

The rest of the cast echoed Affleck's comments, with Gal Gadot pointing out: "This is Zack Snyder's movie. Joss only did a few weeks of reshoots. He was Zack's guy and knew exactly what he wanted to get." Going back to Snyder's work on Justice League, the actress added: "He has a beautiful vision."

Jason Momoa (a man of few words) said: "I [frick]ing love Zack, man. I'd do anything for him." Ezra Miller, meanwhile, shed some light on how the cast found out about Snyder's departure. "It's a heroic act at its route. He called each and every one of us and took the time to explain something that defies, in many ways, explanation. He told us exactly how it was going to go down, which was true to course. He fascinates and amazes and staggers me. Zack Snyder, ultimate [frick]ing legend. Forever."

We'll probably never know just how much Justice League has changed since Whedon came on board but it's probably still relatively far from the movie we would have got had circumstances been different. What do you guys think? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Ben Affleck's comments particularly interest me as he is a director as well. It's easy to forget that every project is different, and you approach them all in different ways. Whedon is good at that, as is Ron Howard stepping in for the Han Solo movie.

@MosquitoFarmer - Ben Affleck didn't know how awful BvS would be.

This is damage control and actors telling fans what they want to hear.

@Griela - You just need to read between the lines....

"In mid-stream, Joss got on and part of what interested him was the puzzle aspect of it, fitting in pieces that weren't there yet."

(Honest translation: "Joss fixed something that was disjointed and made no sense as a story")

@Gunslinger - As always, you fanboys twist Affleck's words around to suit your troll needs.

If Affleck was saying "Righting the ship" or "Fixing everything" or whatever, then you would have a case. But a puzzle is a set structure that you need all the pieces to complete. He wasn't saying the film was disjointed at all. He said it was incomplete.

@SisterSunday52 - Meaning pieces missing. As we had in BvS. Because Snyder has a flair for visuals (with an overuse of slow motion, like Abrams overused lens flare) but there was no connective tissue between those cool looking pieces. But please, don't take my word for it. Take the critics' and general audience's word for it. Apart from a Snyder fanboy minority here, no one sees what you guys see. It's no masterpiece. There is no visionary. And it will be forgotten. Just as Catwoman was.

As for me being a fanboy? Maybe I am. I want to see the real DC universe. Not an emo Superman with the personality of a dying tree. Not the Punisher dressed as Batman. Not a Lord of the Rings Troll cosplaying as Doomsday. Or Mark Zuckerberg on meth pretending to be Luthor.

So yeah, I guess that makes me a DC fanboy.

Those compliments are not over the top gushing...no, not at all. Why would we spoil the vibe?

How Zack handled everything was pretty classy. At this point, I couldn't give two sh*ts who shot what or who made the JL we're going to see. I just want to enjoy myself.
