After images of Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl hit the net with the young actress wearing only a school uniform, fans were curious as to whether we would get to see her in her much cooler comic costume.
Mathew Vaughn assures MTV that the father-daughter vigilante team of Nicolas Cage and Moretz will indeed dispense brutal justice while wearing their "Superhero" costumes!
"That's not her costume. No one's seen her costume yet," Vaughn told MTV News of the various images that have appeared online. "That's just part of a plan to take some people out. That's her alter ego."
Vaughn said that all of the costumes in the film were lifted as directly as possible from artist John Romita Jr.'s designs -- even those we haven't seen yet.
"We have to hold some stuff back," laughed the director. "But yes, they're 100-percent wearing their costumes from the comic."
Would that be 100% except for Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Red Mist then? Who's costume looks like a glam rock nightmare as opposed to the much more practical and badass costume from the comic.
Vaughn says he certainly wont be toning down the comics level of violence either(including various acts of dismemberment, bludgeoning and one scene in which Moretz and Cage's characters execute a criminal using a car-crusher)
"It would be like me buying the rights to 'The Exorcist' and saying 'We're not going to make a horror film out of this,'" he said. "What's the point of doing a watered-down, diluted version of it? You end up with a film that I wouldn't want to make... or see."
Cool! Still not convinced after the Red Mist debacle though. I mean why keep all the other characters so true to the comic but radically alter his? Anyway, i guess we shall see!
