Onyx Equinox creator creator Sofia Alexander has taken to Twitter to announce that she's been enlisted by Marvel Studios to work on an unspecified project. She has yet to share any more details, simply adding that she is excited for the opportunity to "expand on a universe" she loves.
Onyx Equinox is a Mexican-American animated series based on the mythologies of Mesoamerica, featuring deities of Aztec, Maya and Zapotec myth. It premiered on Crunchyroll last November, and has since gained quite a following.
Until Alexander or Marvel decides to reveal more about this, we're left to speculate as to what the mysterious project could be. Given Sofia's background in animation, the second season of What If...? is certainly a possibility, but we know other animated shows are also in development. Of course, there's also a chance she's been brought in for one of the various live-action movies or Disney+ series currently on the studio's slate.
