"Welcome to the Multiverse Saga"

Marvel Studios tore the roof off Hall H last night, providing us with some much-needed clarification regarding their upcoming slate and officially announcing The Multiverse Saga.

To kick things off, Kevin Feige surprised everyone by revealing that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever would end Phase Four and that Phase Five would begin next year with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He then proceeded to give a full overview of their 2023/2024 slate, before announcing that it would end with Thunderbolts in July 2024.

We're then moving into Phase Six with Fantastic Four in November 2024, and while there's still much to be revealed, including details on several films and Disney+ shows, he went ahead and announced that a pair of Avengers films, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, are both coming in 2025!

Click on the NEXT button to get all the details on what's to come in Phase 5, Phase 6... and Phase 7?!

Kevin Feige curiously chose not to reveal this title, so we'll have to likely wait until the D23 Expo to learn more about this one, but there's reason to believe it could be Ryan Reynolds' long-awaited Deadpool 3, especially since the original film also launched over Valentine's Day weekend.

DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN (Spring 2024)

While it's no AvengersThunderbolts should still be a pretty massive team-up event and will bring Phase 5 to a close.

Director: Jake Schreier

Cast (TBD): Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/Abomination, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, and/or Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier.

Release Date: July 26, 2024

PHASE 6 BEGINS - FANTASTIC FOUR (November 8, 2024)

SDCC-Fantastic-Four-3000x3000

Not much is known about Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot, and it's currently without a director as Jon Watts recently bowed out of the project. No writer has been announced either.

John Krasinski played Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but it's unclear whether he'll reprise the role here or if Kevin Feige is planning on going in a different direction.

Release Date: November 8, 2024

Untitled MARVEL STUDIOS Film (February 14, 2025)

342024

Marvel Studios dated this film last night, and while we don't know anything, there are a number of projects that could slot in right here. We'd also be due for a Shang-Chi or Eternals sequel in 2025, so it could be either of those.

Release Date: February 14, 2025

AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY (May 2, 2025)

SDCC-Avengers-The-Kang-Dynasty-3000x3000

Kang is coming and Earth's Mightiest Heroes are going to have their hands full in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which may ultimately end with a cliffhanger, with its follow-up arriving at the tail end of the year.

No director has been announced, and the Russos aren't involved, but we should still expect a familiar name to land the job.

Release Date: May 2, 2025

Untitled MARVEL STUDIOS Film (July 25, 2025)

342024

Marvel Studios dated another mystery film to fill in the gap between The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. As for what it could be, that's anyone's guess, but it'll certainly tie into the later, and we'd be willing to wager that it'll introduce a few characters that could prove to be absolutely vital during Secret Wars. X-Men, anyone?

Release Date: July 25, 2025

PHASE 6 ENDS - AVENGERS: SECRET WARS (November 7, 2025)

SDCC-Avengers-Secret-Wars-3000x3000

At long last, here we are. Marvel Studios has finally announced the long-rumored Avengers: Secret Wars, which will cap off Phase 6 and presumably the entire Multiverse Saga.

It's uncertain whether the same director will tackle both The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, but considering their close proximity, we wouldn't be surprised if two different directors are hired to handle the massive endeavor. It's still super early, and there is a possibility the latter could get pushed back or split into two parts, but that's a problem for future Kevin Feige.

Secret Wars should be the most epic adventure of them all and anyone and everyone is fair game. Could we see Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men? Hugh Jackman as Wolverine? Jessica Alba as Sue Storm? Wesley Snipes as Blade? Ben Affleck as Daredevil? Literally, anything is possible!

Release Date: November 7, 2025

PHASE 7 BEGINS...? - Untitled MARVEL STUDIOS Film (February 13, 2026)

342024

Marvel Studios also dated four new films for 2026, which will all presumably be part of Phase 7.

However, before we discuss them, it should be noted that Spider-Man 4 will likely be part of Phase 5, and we may even get Spider-Man 5 in Phase 6, so there's still a lot we don't know about their plans before the two Avengers titles. With Disney booking these dates, expect Sony Pictures to follow suit and announce the next Tom Holland-fronted Spidey adventure before the end of the year.

Untitled MARVEL STUDIOS Film (May 1, 2026)

342024

Another untitled film that we know nothing about, but with that prime May release date, we'd imagine this is a big one. Ideally, it's something X-Men related, but could this be that rumored Scarlet Witch solo project?

Untitled MARVEL STUDIOS Film (July 24, 2026)

342024

We'll likely see Thor (Chris Hemsworth) again in one of the two, if not both of the Avengers films, but this sounds like a pretty solid date for Thor 5, which would be able to usher in a brand new era for everyone's favorite God of Thunder.

Untitled MARVEL STUDIOS Film (November 6, 2026)

342024

There's still a lot of Marvel Studios TV content that hasn't been announced, so expect a lot of gaps to be filled on September 8 during Disney+ Day or during the D23 Expo the following day. That presentation should be even bigger than last night's as Kevin Feige shares actual information on the filmmakers and actors involved with the many projects they've announced this year.

@Doomsday8888 - Heck no. Phase 5 looks exciting as hell. I want AM3, The Marvels, GOTG3, Blade, CA: NWO, Daredevil, Ironheart.

Definitely don’t want to body slide through those!

A bodyslide is how Cable teleports. A timeslide is how he travels through time.

The more you know!

@VictorAlonzo - beyond that, I’m starting to wonder if the rumored inclusion of a certain masked Marvel uber-villain in Wakanda Forever may, in fact, be the true capstone of Phase 4. Would certainly make sense if Victor’s reveal/introduction to the MCU is saved until the last frames of the phase’s culminating movie.

VFX artists when they heard Kev that they're gonna drop TWO Avengers movie in the SAME year:
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 7/24/2022, 5:25 PM
@Doomsday8888 - at this point, Marvel Studios should just start an in-house studio. Eight projects a year is insanity
TheOtherOn
TheOtherOn - 7/25/2022, 1:34 AM
@bkmeijer1 - If you have read the complains of many VFX artists about the payday for MCU movies, it's actually in their best interest to keep paying 3rd parties to do their dirty deeds ;)

They don't have to worry about any work/labor laws, insurance, taxes, min pay rate, work conditions etc. etc. etc. 😉😉
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 7/25/2022, 4:24 AM
@TheOtherOn - that makes sense from a company perspective. For those VFX artists it might be better to actually for the company, because they'd have more right then. Guess Disney doesn't want that.

MisterDoctor217 - 7/24/2022, 3:17 PM
I just hope they fix Thor’s character so he can have another gran entrance down the line in an Avengers film.
I’m rewatching Ragnarok and he was such a badass in that movie, while being funny and serious too.

I really have a bad taste after L&T.

Doctor Strange, Wanda, Spidey, Hulk, Moon Knight , Bucky, Sam, Both Hawkeyes and Shang Chi, Okoye, M’Baku and some of the guardians is all I have left lol 😫

Hopefully Namor gets added to that list

A LOT to be excited about. I’m guessing Black Panther 3 and A Spider-Man film will fill one of the slots. I know they’re still negotiating Tom Hollands return but Fiege sounded pretty confident on his return for another trilogy.

bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 7/24/2022, 5:26 PM
@MrDandy - think Black Panther 3 could be one of those 2026 slots. Same with Captain Marvel 3, Doctor Strange 3 and The Mutants
JDL
JDL - 7/24/2022, 6:41 PM
@bkmeijer1 - I thought they announced a Wakanda D+ series. That would lessen the chance for a movie in the near future.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 7/25/2022, 4:19 AM
@JDL - the same goes for a Shang-Chi related show made by Destin Daniel Cretton, but as far as I know there is also gonna be a Shang-Chi 2 with him.

Think with the number of projects in the works, Coogler and Cretton both have enough time to make a show and another movie.
JDL
JDL - 7/25/2022, 5:21 AM
@bkmeijer1 - A Shang-Chi related D+ show ? News to me. But lets assume for the moment that that is the case.

In both the Shang-Chi and the Wakanda cases having a D+ series allows them to put off a movie for an extra year or two at the very least. In the case of Wakanda they could go that way permanently given that there is no lead any more.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 7/25/2022, 6:23 AM
@JDL - yeah, DDC is working on some show which I think might up revolving around the Ten Rings now being led by Shang-Chi's sister.

But yeah, you make a good point. Especially with the Wakanda show it makes sense they go that direction. Unless they introduce a new Black Panther in Wakanda Forever, then I can see them do a threequeel in 2026.
JDL
JDL - 7/25/2022, 11:28 PM
@bkmeijer1 - On Wakanda I think we see it the same. A threequel imo comes down to whether or not they can come up with a new BP that is really good and isn't divisive. That won't be easy.

As for the Shang-Chi DoDC possibility that's interesting. On paper it sounds like it could work and I like the idea that the 10 Rings organization remains a force in the MCU. Perhaps a Hand vs the Rings show ? Loads of action and redemption for the Hand ! :)
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 7/26/2022, 4:38 AM
@JDL - if they do Black Panther 3 in 2026, that would put it after Secret Wars. And if there's a place to introduce a variant, it's Secret Wars. But it won't be easy indeed.

As for the Ten Rings, there is so much they can do with it. The Hand would be cool, but I also kinda wanna see the Immortal Weapons
MrDandy
MrDandy - 7/24/2022, 3:20 PM
I’m probably most excited for Daredevil returning (and with a decent episode count instead of 6 episodes). I’m willing to bet no X-Men until after Secret Wars, and that will be used to explain mutants being brought into the universe. It will also allow the franchise a break after 20 years of fox films.
marvel72
marvel72 - 7/24/2022, 3:23 PM
@MrDandy - They may break it down into 3 seasons.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 7/24/2022, 5:27 PM
@MrDandy - idem on both points. 18 episodes is glorious stuff. And I'm willing to bet the next saga is gonna be The Mutants Saga
