WEREWOLF BY NIGHT Leaked Plot Breakdown Reveals The Halloween Special's Story And Some Big Surprises

The entire plot of the Werewolf by Night Halloween Special coming to Disney+ this October has supposedly leaked online, and it makes for fascinating reading as we learn more about plans for the hero!

With less than 24 hours to go before Marvel Studios hosts a "mega" panel at Comic-Con, another potential plot leak has surfaced, this time for the untitled Werewolf by Night Halloween Special coming to Disney+ this October. The information here has supposedly been verified, so we're confident that what you read below is accurate.

We've previously heard that composer Michael Giacchino is directing the standalone project, with Gael García Bernal and Laura Donnelly cast in lead roles.

Among the reveals here, though, are the part Elsa Bloodstone will play in the story, an unexpected Marvel monster's MCU debut, and even the post-credits stinger. There's also intel on the Special's format and how Werewolf by Night will be portrayed. Of course, you shouldn't need us to tell you that we're getting into MAJOR SPOILERS here!

With that in mind, you'll need to click on the NEXT button below to read through this breakdown...

A New MCU Monster

The Halloween Special supposedly opens with a Hitchcockian introduction as a man in glasses warns the audience they should expect all manner of chills and thrills.

From there, we find a bounty hunter tracking Jack Russell. He kills the mercenary and we learn a little about the Bloodstone legacy before Jack arrives at a manor (disguised as the hunter he killed) where he meets Elsa Bloodstone. She's returned home following her father's death, and we're shown all manner of characters who are said to secretly be monster hunters.

Bloodstone's will is read, and he's tasked them to hunt a creature down who has become enraged by the Bloodstone. They just need to enter a maze to find him...oh, and the "him" in question?

It's Man-Thing!

The Villains Revealed

Elsa crosses paths with Jack in the maze and sees through his disguise. They're both attacked by another bounty hunter, but Jack finds Man-Thing and the two realise they share a connection.

Jack and Elsa agree to team up, and the former alludes to his own difficulties with his family legacy. Jack attempts to help Man-Thing and learns the Bloodstone has attached itself to him and is causing the usually peaceful creature pain. Before they can remove it, the other bounty hunters close in and capture them all.

The truth is, those bounty hunters were there to capture Jack under the orders of a villain dubbed "Harris" in this leak. She wants to control his werewolf side using the Bloodstone, and after forcing him to transform, they quickly realise it won't be that easy!

Werewolf By Night!

image002133222

Werewolf by Night tears through everyone and even attacks Elsa before suddenly recognizing her. She takes out the remaining bad guys, and is saved by Man-Thing just as it looks like the Halloween Special's big bad is going to gain the upper hand.

It's said that the villain suffers a suitably gruesome death at Man-Thing's hands, bursting into flames.

Elsa points the monster in the direction Jack ran off in, and sits down, reclaiming the Blooodstone and her family legacy. This Special supposedly plays out in black and white up until this point, but it's during these final moments that the color returns (essentially bringing this story into the MCU).

We're not done yet, though!

One Final Tease

image0021332223

A post-credits scene supposedly shows Jack waking up and realising that Man-Thing has taken care of him. Clearly, the plan from here is for them to be a team of sorts in the MCU.

Disappointingly, there's no Blade or Moon Knight and no references to other MCU movies or TV shows. That's becoming a recurring theme in Phase 4 as Marvel Studios shifts its focus to standalone projects that don't all necessarily inform each other and link up.

We don't have too many details beyond this, though it is claimed that Werewolf by Night is created with practical effects (there's a Planet of the Apes comparison, bizarrely). We'll see if any of this is true!

Sounds very cool. Like the Hitchcockian intro.

If true sounds generic. Hopefully plays out better.

The write up of the leaked plot in this article is god awful. Half the time its hard to follow who the hell is doing what. Outside of that this sounds terrible. No outside references to the wider mystical mcu, a werewolf with practical effects a la the OG wolf man and planet of the apes, def means he's likely going to look like crap, lets hope not. I had a lot of hope for this one as I want to see what Michael Giachino can do as a director but so far this sounds random af and kinda dumb.

@TheBlueMarvel - lol I was so confused reading it as well. I had to do a couple of re-reads to get that Elsa isn't the big bad. Though I'm still not certain XD

@RedFury - Im still trying to figure out who the villain is. Who did Man thing kill in the "gruesome fiery death"

@TheBlueMarvel - I'm sorry, a werewolf with practical effects sounds terrible? The [frick]? That's awesome.

@Shivermetimbers - I think it's the person "Harris" that was mentioned? But your guess is as good as mine lol.

@TheBlueMarvel - every good werewolf movie I’ve ever seen has used practical effects in the design. The Howling and American Werewolf in London are both groundbreaking in their special effects. How they accomplish creating the werewolf and what type of design they go with has always been a major feature of the werewolf sub genre.

Werewolf by Night Halloween Special definitely excited for this one :)

@DoubleD - I hope they do more things like this, in essence bringing back their "One Shots" from Phase 1, except that they are episode length rather than 5-10 minutes long.

It would allow them to introduce new characters, and then gauge interest to see if those characters would be popular enough to expand into a full length TV season or even movie.

I will no longer get hyped for anything MCU disney+

Instead of being something scary and epic

it will probably something cheesy with low quality special effects

@WakandaTech - Unfortunately, I am starting to feel the same way. I probably wouldn't even come to this site anymore if it wasn't for the fun comments section.

Wasn’t it “confirmed” that Blade would be in this and the next time we see Moonknight would also be on this special?

@WruceBayne - that always felt like a rumor

I'm all for Man-Thing showing up as long as he doesn't fall out of continuity with Ironman 3 and Thor Ragnarok.

@TheIronDuck - what's the Iron Man 3 connection?
CassianAndor
CassianAndor - 7/22/2022, 1:23 PM
@thewanderer - He might be getting it confused with Agents of Shield. In the first season Maria Hill made an off hand mention of Man-Thing while talking on the phone to Pepper Potts. It came out around the same time as Iron Man 3. But AoS is already out of continuity, so who cares?

As far as Ragnarok, it was a blink and you’ll miss it easter egg I think they can safely ignore.
TheIronDuck

@thewanderer @BloopBlorp2 - The Extremis soldier Brand is his wife and her burn scars in that movie are from him.
thewanderer
thewanderer - 7/22/2022, 1:46 PM
@TheIronDuck - was that in like a tie-in book or something?
TheIronDuck
TheIronDuck - 7/22/2022, 2:07 PM
@thewanderer - Ellen Brant is a character pulled from the Man-Thing comic and while it is never spelled out directly in the movie Shane black later elaborated on the Easter egg by explaining that the reason Extremis regrew her arm but didn't heal her scars is because they were supernatural burns from her husband and not from the injury that took her arm.

@TheIronDuck - Thanks.

that definitely sounds great, like an old school horror movie. Glad Man Thing is getting his time to shine now, and can't wait to go deep into the supernatural and more mystical side of Marvel in between the MCU.

Just don't rush it Marvel and take it easy, 8 episodes, just think about it.
