Marvel's The Avengers is still doing great both domestically and overseas, but The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Men in Black 3 will be the film that finally takes back the #1 spot after a solid few weeks for Joss Whedon's superhero ensemble at the top. The threequel (which had a whopping $230 million budget) looks set to dominate the Memorial Day holiday with an expected four-day gross of between $80 million and $90 million. Some analysts are even predicting $100 million. It's thought that it will also have no trouble taking around $200 million internationally. The Avengers has so far grossed $472.2 million domestically and $747.4 million internationally, steadily moving up the list of all-time highest grossing movies. It is currently on track for the #4 or #3 spot depending on how well it does over the next few weeks. Be sure to check out my 4* review of Men in Black 3 by clicking HERE

That is a good sign for The Amazing Spider-Man. If MIB is making a good amount then I expect Spidey will do just as good.

Why do you people still care how much money Avengers makes? You don't get any of that money. What good does it do for you? I could understand if it was doing bad it a sequel wasn't going to happen, but that isn't the case.

marvel72 - 5/24/2012, 2:38 PM
shame it had a good run at the top,it'll still make money even though its not number 1.

unless........

It's made 1.2 billion now, I think we can lay easy on how much it makes from here on. It was an awesome movie and is getting a sequel.

Yeah, figured MIB would be the one to do it. It had a solid three weeks at the top, which I'm more than happy with!

As a little fun fact, today is my 21st birthday! Gee, I wonder how I should celebrate lol

Some of you are so stupid.

Of course MIB will top the Avengers, the first two (even though the second wasn't as good) are still very popular and fused into pop culture.

@ Partyhard - reason it's the first time a CBM has ever reached these type of ranks on the top ten list and for a Disney movie as well which is also a win for them.

Next time someone else decides to make a CBM hopefully they will take it allot more serious and not shitty for all us fans.

And that's why we care because we all contributed & controlled the outcome when it came in dropping all that dough into watch the film. Even if the non-fans watched it too.

But yeah, the Big Willie draw will finally knock the Avengers down.

Let's turn the clocks back a week most of you guys didn't believe MIB3 would take it down. I kept hearing Will Smith isn't as big as he once was. I saw this coming. The Avengers only has two weeks left I bet.

@ ironman53

have you read any nova yet,he was my favorite character but after the thanos imperative he went missing in action.

he returned to earth during avengers vs x-men 1,but i'm not sure if its rich rider.

annihilation is great as well you see nova in top form, must read annihilation conquest afterwards.

Pity that Marvel lost the Malibu assets... otherwise they'd be getting a piece of MIB's pie too.

@ jazzman

my comment was because of what partyhard & sonofsamadams said, they make it out to be crime to want comic book movies to do well.

how do they know that i may have shares in marvel,so of course i want them to well.

we should want all comic book to do well, the more money they make the more we benefit from it.

also i thought dark horse released men in black first,i may be wrong.

Wasn't expecting more than 60 million opening so that's definitely good for them.

Avengers had a good three week streal and it's in the billion dollar club so can't really be mad or disappointed.
