What We Got For Christmas

What We Got For Christmas

I know, we are a little late but we have been busy! We thought it would be fun to go back and look at what some of us at SuperHeroStuff.com got for Christmas

Ah, Christmas. A time for giving nice things, getting nice things, and over indulging to the point of bursting! The holidays in general can take such a strain, it is no wonder that it only happens once a year and during a cold and dark month. Some people look forward to the season, while others find a reason to dread the whole bloody ordeal. Whatever camp you may find yourself in, one of the first questions somebody will invariably ask is 'What did you get for Christmas?' Maybe you were good this year and you got a lot of things...better guess is you were terrible and you got a giant piece of anthracite coal, freshly dug out of the ground. Just kidding! We all know that you guys are one the best behaved internet groups, as far as internet groups go! Something about the internet and anonymity? Either way, we here at SuperHeroStuff.Com got a couple of nice things for Christmas, and as passionate as we are, I'm sure you can guess the nature of our good tidings! We would like to share with you what we got, mainly because we haven't 'spoken' in awhile, and this seems like a fairly good icebreaker.

Our first contestant is our resident Heroclix master and newest addition to the Warehouse crew, Chad. I think I knew exactly what he got before I even went out and asked him. I think I gave it away in his introduction! Jolly good sir Chad received a DC 75th Anniversary Alan Scott Heroclix and a Batman #232. Not entirely sure how that Heroclix thing plays out, but he always speaks of epic battles against his friend with a penchant for stacked Black Lantern groups.

The Captain, Brian, Lord Sovereign of this contingent of SuperHeroStuff.com knew nothing of what he was going to get. His wife came in during the week and had us prepare a random assortment of pint glasses for our fearless leader. She made it clear to us that he shouldn't have a clue! Everybody knows that the key to stealth is humming the Mission Impossible theme song. The louder you hum it, the more cloaked you are. You see, the Captain enjoys his brewing hobby and one always needs plenty of pint glasses to share one's talents! Nothing like combining ideas for some awesome synergy for Christmas; I wonder if they have seen enough use yet.

Missa T, which I say like Sweeny Todd, is our Operations Manager and self proclaimed 'Crux of the Operation'. Missa T is slightly unstable, and spends most of his time alternating between yelling incoherently and singing. It is of no surprise that Missa T asked for a replica Iron Man helmet (which he hasn't taken off yet) and a full sized Gundam. He assures us that he just started the lay-away process for the Gundam, and he should have it by the end of 2029. Missa T did get his special lady friend some comic books, specifically volume one of the Walking Dead and Fables. Good move, Missa T, good move.

Josh, one of our Warehouse workers and movie projectionist, made it absolutely clear what he got for Christmas: The first editions of every 'Banana Fish' and 'Case Closed'. When asked if he got anything else or if he was serious, he responded: “Do you really need anything else, how can you possibly top those? They are almost as cool as the Gundam”. Now all he says all day is Banana Fish. Curse that infernal manga!

Danni is the poor girl that has to deal with you people when you call in! That in and of itself should earn her boatloads of pity, but at least you keep her 'entertained'. Just try to be nice and polite when you call in, for our sakes! Danni got one of those fancy Batman spinner rings, and has played with it incessantly since she got it. Always has her hand up in the air and continually fidgeting. I'm beginning to think I should get one because they seem to be a lot of fun and rather efficient at burning time.

Mr. Powers, distant 2nd cousin thrice removed of Austin Powers, is the master of all comic books whether it be DC or Marvel. Mr. Powers got some hardcore Scottish scarf, but we were having a hard time coming up with a super hero that it may be related to in some shape or form. He did, however, get a collection of the Savage Sword of Conan! Mr. Powers wanted a Red Lantern ring to more effectively cut his way through traffic, but I suppose the anger in his heart wasn’t sufficient enough. He would have settled for an Infinity Gem, preferably soul. Get on it Santa Claus.

Andy, affectionately referred to as Heady-Backy, is our Catalog Manager and takes all of our meticulous pictures! He’s the one spending hours making sure that all of our images on the website are crystal clear and uniform. He and the Captain keep Missa T under control, though I don’t think that shows up on either’s job description. Andy got the Guardians of the Galaxy Bust set, which is apparently something he has wanted for quite some time. He had to go on the internet and show me some pictures of the item to give me a general idea of what they were. Extremely detailed, my friends, extremely detailed!

The Commander of the Warehouse Jerry Berry is a bit of a pragmatist. Considering how cold things are, he had scooped up some of the remaining Batman Fleece Lounge Pants and a Justice League ‘Blanket with Sleeves’. It is cold up here and that Warehouse gets a bit frosty! I am beginning to wonder if he’ll start wearing it to work, mainly because if I had those two items I surely would. I am actually getting a bit jealous writing about it right now.

So what did your rambling writer get for Christmas? I got the entirety of Grendel! Something about this season that makes me want to read about the nature of aggression and self destruction. I also got a few Green Lantern things, mainly our Flat Green Lantern Ring and a Sinestro Corps shirt. I was wearing the Sinestro Corps T-Shirt really late the one night when I went out for some food. Some guy runs into the place and goes ‘Sorry for nerding out, but that is a great shirt’. I take notice that this man is wearing a Green Lantern shirt. Unfortunately I wasn’t fast enough to come up with something clever to say back, but I do like to show off my ‘colors’!

We hope you guys had a great holiday season. What did you guys get for Christmas? Anything fun and exciting? Anything superhero related? Anything you want but didn’t get?
