COMICS: Marvel...OF THE DEAD? New Teaser Promises Some Fatalities

We have hardly any info on this, just a teaser image and some speculation. But it seems Marvel Comics are planning to shake things up a bit in the third quarter of 2013 by killing off one - or more - major characters. Read on for what we do have..

Marvel are keeping this one very close to their chests, stonewalling any lines of inquiry. But I think it's pretty obvious this means we are in for a bit of the old character killing later this year - the question is, who? Well Bleeding Cool reckon this gives credence to their "Death of Wolverine" theory from last week, and also say they hear we are in for a major death in the upcoming Age Of Ultron event. But we don't know anything for sure. Who do you guys think might be superheroing their last?..until they're brought back of course. Another theory is that this will have something to do with Zombies, as George Romero (as in, Dawn Of The Dead etc) is writing a series for Marvel soon. Hmmmm.

And if they killed Aunt May, I would be so pissed off because they subjected us to Brand New Day and several years of shit stories to keep her alive before.

@ irondean2099

maybe her death could reset the spidey universe back to the way when it was f*ckin amazing.

@ spideyguy94

she died in amazing spider-man 400(1995)but still managed to comeback to life somehow later on.

well the released info about Age of Ultron says "the remaining heroes" so presumably some were killed in the Ultron attack where he took over in the first place.

marvel72 @ Yes! The Back In Black story was really compelling. When it actually seemed like she was on her way out and Spidey visits the Kingpin in prison to kick his [frick]ing ass.

@marvel72 yeah it was revealed it was an actress pretending to be aunt may and that Norman Osborn had captured her and imprisoned her (spider-man comics in the 90s for you). Yeah back when spidey went forward as a character and not backwards.

I think this is going to be some zombie storyline. What a grand idea Marvel, because that hasn't been driven into the ground yet. Zombies will be the new vampires. Freakin crap!

Aunt May just needs to die already. She hasn't had a purpose in Spider-Man comics in years. I'm convinced that she will still be alive after all the heroes of the Marvel universe drop dead. She couldn't be killed even if an atomic bomb went off in her purse.

I'd love for Marvel to kill Wolverine but I agree with those who think this has to do with Romero, "of the dead" is his trademark.

How is killing off a character even news anymore?

We all know whoever it is will be back. People hardly ever stay dead in comics. Remember when Superman died? Or Flash? Or Batman? Captain America? Human Torch?

Mark my words: Whoever dies will be back within a couple months at the most.

I'm voting on George A. Romero's Marvel of the Dead. The King of Zombies takes on his version, his vision, of the Marvel Zombies. NOW THAT...would be epic.

theyve already indicated they are offing Wolverine, but maybe they will kill others.

Unfortunately, it doesnt really matter. Comics have taken away the tragedy of death by reviving them everytime

Marvel lately seems to be having a contest between it's writers for how many beloved characters it can kill off . We've (Technically) lost peter parker, Wolverine is going to die completely later this year like he's never coming back, and I know there were quite a few more
